Ok wasn't sure where to post this but here goes...
Picked up newly bought cougar just before all seemed great but was going down motorway and first the speedo died just dropped off showing mph , then the orange traction control light popped on , now here is the worry bit came to a round about and breaked and the engine( I'm guessing electrical problem) cut engine off and all lights popped up as if I had manual turned key to off stage and back on, get me?
Help!!
Car is in for mot in a hour, looks like it needs serious auto electrician help or do you know what it is? Thanks.

Yeah it restarted but the speedo is still dead , no it was the wheel light in yellow showing skidding tyre , that went off but came on again , was all good until the speedo died , but the worrying thing is engine cutting out when coming to a stop , that didn't happen till the speedo died.

Oh, your post confused me with reference to "manual". Anyway, this could be down to damp/moisture in the binnacle, especially if the car has been stood idle for a while. It should clear eventually.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the main loom plug on the passenger side front turret, 10mm bolt to undo, try giving it a clean with contact cleaner.

Cheers ,What number fuse I need then guys I'll tell the mot guy to pop one in? 34?
Also when coming off acceleration and coasting it is feeling like it is smoothly coasting then almost like it is being intermediately buffeted by wind from front, like a brake rubbing against a bike tyre one second it smooth next slowing very slightly if you get me ...on and off.

Disconnected battery and re attached , weirdly enough it runs through start up electronics (needle climbs when turning on ignition) but isn't working when rolling.

It's the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) I've had it on mine.

There's a how to in the subscribers section ;)

Yeah I think the vss has gone that's what halfords reckons it is on gear box :-( just my luck it going after I just picked up taking it home! See how much they quote , on to the mot , although a few ambers to watch for on mot , I'm glad to say it only failed on two things! Welding above off side suspension and rear brakes , either a hand brake cable (hope) or caliper (bit more money) either way it is going back for jobs on Wednesday for welding and brake test to determin what's needed, after which I can tax it and I'm on the road! Will put full service back till end of this month and add full synthetic oil to list , then hopefully the stalling problem will be sorted and she will be purring like a pussy should do!

On another note , man I loved driving the cougar home today , love it , sensual driving experience and love how it pulls from 2 thousands revs in fifth all the way up to higher speeds !!!

Will subscribe in near future , and mine isn't a x reg its a w oops , cheers for the help and feedback guys , hopefully I will be all clean and sweet for castle comb.
Peace!
