here's hoping !

She's now had 2 weeks of regular use as my transport to work.
Today she had 4 wheel tracking done at my local ATS. My guessed settings where OK, needing only fractional adjustment. Minor tweaks to both fronts too. It showed that the front camber was way out, the guy advised it's not adjustable on the cougar but not to be misled by the readings as they don't have the system calibrated for camber.
The only problem I have is the cooling fans are running far too much, she's been OK as the journey is relatively short. Over the winter I did the water pump and thermostat to ensure it was trouble free. I've tried bleeding her by running with the pressure cap off but no improvement. Today I put the old thermostat back in, ran her with the pressure cap off until she threw loads of coolant out 3 times and a fair few bubbles too. Fingers crossed on Monday to see if she's cured.

Seems good, no cooling fans today.
Kind of annoying how much grief the new thermostat caused but it could have been much much worse !

Sounds like youve got it sorted (y)

Ive read there are two types of thermostat that open at slighty different temps, could be the issue if its running fine with the old one

Just an FYI. His machine was probably calibrated for Camber. The better explanation for why not to worry is the fact that FORD didn't build these cars to adjust camber on. If the tires are wearing then I wouldn't worry about it. The only solid way of adjusting camber on these cars I've seen involves cutting the top of the strut towers off and having a plate welded on that allows the use of adjustable camber plates on the top.
