Hi, i know 4x4 cougars are out there. who has done the work? if you were to do it again what would you do differently?

i have a mondeo 4x4 turbo. and a cougar. i want the looks of the cat with the power and road holding of the mondeo.

thanks Luke

i had a 4 x 4 zetec - now owned by joyrider.

Bobster has a turbo zetec

Everton has a 4 x 4 zetec

charliecd001 has a v6 4 x4

no-one has yet done a turbo 4x4 cougar

Hi Luke,

is it a Mk1 or Mk2? I know of one Mk1 that had the full Focus RS engine with 4x4 conversion - is it the same one?

The conversions were done by the 'Bolton Mafia'. If you were to use the Mondeo as a donor then I would think most of the difficult work is already done and you probably have most if not all of the bits you need too.

engine spec 2.1 zetec turbo engine
wossner forged pistons
steel rods
heavily ported head
rover inlet manifold complete with ferriday adapter
fse adjustable fuel reg
fuel rail injectors etc
standard cams
genuine focus rs head gasket and head bolts
genuine timing belt kit
modified sump with oil returns
oil feed pipe for turbo
area six valve springs
modified breather
cosworth throttle body

omex 600

Basically transfer all of it including running gear all uderside gear including the tank you will have to fabrcate a fuel filler system and aero filler cap All the rest is staight forward. Basically it is mondeo that looks pretty you will need an auto front sub frame though.

I am one of those with a 4x4 Cougar Zetec and I am already collecting various parts for my turbo project

Are you going to transfer from your Mondeo to the Cougar?? What sort of power have you achieved??

I have the black top engine sourced, once I have that in my possession then I will look to have it rebored to 2.1, head ported, etc etc and take it from there. I think I'm looking to achieve around 350 once finished (assuming it all goes to plan).

its a bit of a race then. the underneath is in need of some attention on mine. the engine has been on a dino @ 395bhp

It's definitely a race then!! 395 is certainly respectable.

Are you going to freshen the engine/turbo as you transplant??
