Hopefully I will be an owner of a black Cougar tomorrow :)
Its a 2001 (Y reg). Asking £1350, is this about ok?

I'll obviously haggle it down as much as I can.

Welcome to the forum. Depending on mileage, condition etc that figure is towards the top end of the price range especially if it's a private sale. Good luck with the haggling.
 
As he said, ^^ they can be had for a lot less in good condition now, but again depends on mileage and condition etc... anyway, welcome to the club.. good luck with the purchase.. :)

At that price it should be a low miler, near mint with good service history.
Check Autotrader and ebay and print some of the best ones off. There are plenty well under £1000 to help with the haggling.
 
Welcome aboard!! That's a high price for a standard car. It wants to be in showroom nick for that much. Is it a C1 or a C2? Any pics from the ad or a link even?

Yes, its the one above. Sadly, it had no tax, NO service history (not one single receipt even), faulty window switch, windscreen chip. 114k on the clock.
It was in good condition otherwise, but it was too much of a risk and the guy wouldn't even take off £10!!

Take your time and have a look round, there are much better offers that the one above, Some very fine examples have sold on here for less than half the asking price of that one.. :) take a look through the for sale section, i am sure there are a few for sale even now on here...
 
Or if you want one that's already modified, not stupidly, you can stick a bid on mine ;)
 
I paid waaay less than a monkey for my xpack, full history and 5 months tax.. had a couple of the 'usual' v6 probs but OK otherwise..
