The auto box is capable enough, but many people [SUP][Citation needed][/SUP] find it disappointing. For a start, the auto ECU limits engine revs at exactly the point where the V6 really comes alive. That's not going from my own experience though because I've never driven one faster than walking pace.
The CD4 also has a fairly unpleasant failure mode that's difficult to detect before it turns into a grenade. See: Wil Leaper's Ebony.
Unless there's a solid reason that you don't want a clutch pedal, I'd avoid it. Frankly you'd be better off looking for a well-serviced C2 or a very late C1 in the colour of your choice. But recent experience suggests that you're going to struggle to find anything decent that isn't a Frosty.
