Hi. Just like to say hello to all. After years of wanting a Cougar I have finally gone for it.

its a 2.0i 1999 model, 59k miles, 1 prev owner with full service history. I am historically a big Ford lover although have owned MG's for the last 10 years. Now back with Ford and enjoying this fantastic car.

One downside is I have already had a problem with the car, something i suspected when I test drove it. My suspicisions were correct and thankfully it was nothing major. The spark plus and leads were ancient, the number two spark was jumping all over the place. New sparks and leads and all sorted.

One aspect of the car is its a totally different drive to what I have had with the MGs. I will be doing a lot of motorway driving in it as I start a new job on Monday and its a perfect cruiser, so comfortable but a pleasure to drive. I will be converting it to LPG though. This was a crucial aspect in finding the right car, which this is.

Im looking forward to attending meetings with Ford and will look around the site to see what else happens here.

cheers then

Martin

Welcome to the club Martin.

You will be glad you found this place....very friendly, very helpful and very informative.

As a subscriber you would open up a whole world of info on the big cat.

Either way, you are more than welcome.

Hi scunny, thank you for the welcome. I hadnt realised it was a subscription based site. I will look into that and will most certainly sign up properly. Cheers.

Bloody hell that was quick!

Its the only real manual for the coug.....great banter thrown in.....we are generally a good bunch.

Get some pics up of the Coug....

Really sorry to say this, but the Cougar is not for me. Many reasons to be honest but it will have to be up for sale very soon. Nice car certainly but just not doing it for me. If anyone is interested please just let me know. I think i have been a member for more than 30 days so will post up in the for sale section very soon.

Hi scunny. Yes I know what you mean. I had been considering a Cougar for years. There is much about the Cougar I really like but over all I have to be realistic and say I need a 5 seater and 4 doors due to family reasons. I thought I could get away with the coupe but I have a tall 14 year old daughter plus an 18 year old step daughter and sitting in the back is just too cramped for them plus a little unladylike when they are climbing out!!

Tell 'em to get the bus instead!

Practicality is always going to the downfall of any coupe. Luckily for me I have no kids and very rarely carry passengers. What are you considering as a replacement?
