Hi from Oxon

Hi scunny. Yes I know what you mean. I had been considering a Cougar for years. There is much about the Cougar I really like but over all I have to be realistic and say I need a 5 seater and 4 doors due to family reasons. I thought I could get away with the coupe but I have a tall 14 year old daughter plus an 18 year old step daughter and sitting in the back is just too cramped for them plus a little unladylike when they are climbing out!!

Fair enough mate. My kids are still young but my 9 year old daughter is over 5 feet tall already. Practically speaking I won't be a two cat owner forever

Tell 'em to get the bus instead!

Practicality is always going to the downfall of any coupe. Luckily for me I have no kids and very rarely carry passengers. What are you considering as a replacement?

To be fair, my daughter catches the bus a lot, but the thing that changed was 2 days after buying the Cougar my daughter moved in full time (long standing issues with her mum) and it was an unexpected but very pleasant surprise. It changed everything but I thought I would give the Cougar a go for a month and see how it went. I sold a 4 door 5 seater to get the cougar though!

I have had 14 Capri's in the past but this was when kids was not an option, the cougar was fullfilling something I have wanted for a while, but nope, family comes first still. I will probably revert back to MG ZS's.

Well, its goodbye from me. A very short visit Im afraid. The Cougar goes this Friday, my replacement has been bought. I have been successful in purchasing an old car I never wanted to sell in the first place (I bought it brand new), which is a Mark 2 MG ZS. The buyer of the cougar is my godson, who I believe has been browsing this site so I guess will become a member very soon.

cheers all, thanks very much.

Such a shame when practicality isues stop you from having the car you want. I am very lucky - I have a Mazda van for work and the Coog for my daily driving fun - but as my Van is a 3 seater and I have just one kid, we use that for family stuff too and my wife who currently has a wee Fiesta is about to buy herself a Probe to go to and from work.
