hi guys and girls! i'm new here just bought a cougar tonight!! picking it up tomorrow and i can't wait!
always wanted a cougar and i saw this one and couldn't resist!!
it's done 49,000 miles with full service history and all previous MOT's. it's absolutly mint and i'm chuffed to bits with it! it's the 2.5 V6, but it's an automatic! if i'm honest it's the only thing i would change as i prefer a manual box, but i'm just being picky really!

what do you think??

Hi and welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.
What really still surprises me about these cars, is the low mileage that crops up, i mean, an S plate V6 and it's only covered 49,000 miles, thats not 5k per year. (y)

Hi mate and welcome to the home of the Cougar. Looks a tidy car and very low mileage too. First thing you need to do is get rid of the ORANGE side repeaters. Get a nice set of crystal clear ones with chrome bulbs.

Hi and Welcome aboard. Nice looking Frosty, but as Dick said - get rid of those "fried eggs" (orange side repeaters). Auto's are ok, but are a little bit slower than the manual, but hey, these cars aren't for traffic light grand prix's so don't worry. Nice find with that mileage - hope you didn't pay too much for her?

Welcome, pmiddy!

Lovely looking car - very tidy.

The combination of high age with absurdly low mileage would have me checking the state of bushes, belts, hoses and tyre sidewalls.

It also imples lots of short journeys, so;

a) Really dig your finger into the oil filler to check for mayo. This doesn't always mean HGF - it can also mean condensation, which equals acid. If so, do an oil drop.
b) In any case, it's time for an Italian tune-up. An excellent excuse to take her for a good 30/40-mile beat-up. Keep the stereo off and have a good listen to the motor.

There's some V6-specific things to look out for, but I don't own one, so...

Hi Guys thanks for the warm welcome,
@ wildv6 - only paid £900 after a bit of bartering!!
@d1ckl - i intend to get some smoked ones to replace the orange ones as i have smoke black and silver wheels to go on, gotta see what the wheels look like first as they came off my mondeo - they are only 17's so may look a bit small but we'll see. if they look ok then i'll get smoked ones, if not i'll have a look at some clear ones.
@mako - thanks for the advice dude, i'm a fleet manager for a living and i spend alot of (company) money with the local garage - luckily when it comes to looking after my cars most of the stuff that needs doing i get done for very little money if any. the car is in today for a full service and check up as it's been SORN since oct last year. have to say though after my 50 mile journey to work this morning it drove supurbly and sounded nice too!
@cougarbob - your right there mate, been smiling since i bought it and after driving it for the first time this morning am grinning from ear to ear!!

Ah, well it's good to know that she'll be looked after!

I'll leave the advice there for anyone who comes along who isn't quite as clued up. :)

Welcome pmiddy. :)

Nice frosty you've got there.
If you're using 17" wheels from a Mondie they may not have the ideal tyre size for the cat.
To keep your speedo accurate as possible, aim for 215/45/17's when it comes to replacements.

@mako, advice is always welcomed matey! :)
@flamencoassassin thanks for the tip mate, i have already got tyres on the wheels at the moment so when they are due for replacement i will take note of that!

just ordered some smoked side indicator lenses and fitted the wheels. just needs a machine polish and good clean now and that should just about do it......for now anyway! :)
what do you think?

oh by the way i need a new heater module as the fan (hot or cold) doesn't work. there is power going to the module but nothing after it!
anyone know where i can pick one up and how much they are???
thanks
Paul.

@ mako - advice is always helpful mate! lol
@ flamencoassassin - i already had the wheels mate, they came off my mondeo and the tyres are all still pretty good, however when it comes to replacements i know what size to get now, thanks. thats of course if i keep them on.
i'm not sure whether to keep them on or to refurb the original wheels - what do you think??

Welcome to the club. There's a few wierdo's on here so watch yourself!:):):)
now who's that I wonder? o_O

Welcome mate. Don't bother swapping to manual its an expensive job!

Nice wheels, keep it like that, lower it and fit those side repeaters and you have a classic there (y)

oh if I was you i'd resize your sig pic its a bit LARGE

Paul, that is looking sweet, nice rims. Like Matt (Ginja) said above, lower her a bit (mine's dropped 30mm on PI Springs) and get the indicator lenses changed and she'll be sorted. Nice one bud. Hopefully see you at a few meets this year? Oh and as RichB advised, watch out for the weirdo's on here (he was actually talking about himself..lol..)
