Thinking of putting one of these on my car, however there are different options.
I can have different temperatures. Any recommendations please? I drive mostly rural roads at night with no street lighting. Options as follows:
4300K - Sunset yellow
6000K - Diamond White
8000K - Iceberg Blue
10000K - Brilliant Blue
12000K - Violet Blue
Many thanks
Jon

6000K are probably the most common and give a very bright white light, but, new MOT legislation states that they are illegal unless you have headlight washers and levellers on your front dampers. I just had to remove mine to get the car MOT'd.

No, nothing in the MOT manual to that effect.

I gave a detailed answer to the legality question a few days ago in another thread but essentially the levelling/washers have to work beyond reasonable doubt IF FITTED.

C&U 1986 is what they fall foul of, not MOT test regs.

Regards,
Andy

I run 6000K with no issues at all. Very good light and nice and clear. One of the best upgrades I have done to my car.
Good luck.

6000! more than that and you start to go blue which IS illegal!
I know there is all this confusion re the MOT and hids, but all i'll say is. mine have passed 3 mot's now without even a mention. This makes it probably a good market for buyers as a lot of sellers have radically reduced prices in an attempt to clear their stocks. Go for it. (y)

Well said Alan, and even if you do fail the MOT with them in, just drop your old bulbs in, get your ticket then pull them back out. Easy enough.

Aha, As I am on the Isle of Man, I just need to get through the 'Manx Test' which is like an MOT, but not one. Here they just test for roadworthyness, although they dont like speedo's in KM's or faded amber bulbs.
I think I will go for the 6000 then.

Thanks alot for the advise.
(I remember swapping tungsten bulbs for halogens back in the day ;-0)
