I assume this has been seen...?

Taking on a car from a previous club member who passed away holds a lot of meaning........for the members and friends, i was always worried about this with Goblin, however time was in my favour, i beleive Chris' car will move on to another non member, purely because of the time factor, yes it does hold a lot of memories for people and i for one hope it stays in one piece long enough to come back into the club, as for the current owner, its his car and therefore up to him what he does with it, we may not like it, but it doesn't give anyone the right to voice off thier opinions, after all he bought it in good faith

It's a sort of blessing in disguise really. A 21 one year old lad would have reduced the car to a pile of ***** in weeks

I agree that it's pretty wrong that he's mentioned the former owner, utterly distasteful. However, if you guys felt so strongly about it I'm sure you could have done something about it. There's not much point complaining now.

After mulling this over since last night, I've emailed him and politely asked that he remove the reference to Chris from his listing.

I respect the guy's reasons for selling the car and even his right to chance his arm at doubling his money (I do think that's rather poor form, but it's a free country), but I think referencing Chris's ownership when it's virtually certain he must know of the surrounding circumstances is unacceptably cold and insensitive.

I totally agree with everything said here,Chris`s ownership meant a lot to people on here and i think the reference should be removed.
But lets be fair about the price-what he asks is his business nobody elses,he paid Tim for the car and now he can sell it for whatever he wants there are people on this forum who buy cheap and make a profit so why should`nt he

Unfortunately, amongst our membership i am not sure we have a crystal ball and merely expressing some concern.

That's a great post

Some one will hopefully buy it and become a club member, the car is in Swadlincote a nice central location for many people. The current owner paid £1800 for the car so if you have cash to spare!.

I fail to see how he paid £1800 for it when it was listed for £1000 and it was on here for £1000 too.

That was just a listing error on pistonheads, it was up at 2.5k but he bought it for £1800 so will not take any less as it is a show car.

Either way guys as has been stated he is perfectly entitled to ask what he wants for it, I agree that he shouldn't be mentioning the history of the car though.

I'm not actually sure what he hopes to achieve by mentioning it though. The text as it stands now, (09/05/2012) says that it was owned by our major events organiser.

If that is supposed to be a selling point, anyone who understands it will know who it refers to. At which point, they will know they're buying a car with a huge amount of emotional weight for most people here.

A member will already know. A non-member probably won't care, but might even be turned off at the though of buying a car that belonged to someone who has passed away.

I am very confused by this approach.

I think the guy is just promoting the fact that this car was owned by someone who loved it very much and it was well looked after. I do not see anything wrong with saying who owned it and it's links to this club. The only issue I can see with this sale is the price hike and that does not sit very well at all. If his story is genuine, then that is fair enough, but if it was me, I would only want my money back that I paid for the car, nothing more.
It is a free world I am afraid and he can do what he likes and how he feels fit. The only flip side on this is I really do feel he will only end up with what he paid anyhow due to the price of our cars now. He has made no friends doing this at all but this is life I am afraid.
All I hope is someone buys it and looks after it the the way it should be.

I generally agree with you, but my cynical side sees it differently.

And the price hike is silly.

Any of know he won't get the asking price anyway at best there are £1200 and no more that is the going rate I'm afraid. Mine cost me a load of money ,money i'll never get back on it. But hey ho, mine is how i want it.
