Well bought a spoiler off Si and decided to fit it today-two minute job or so i thought:-
Took off the old spoiler forgetting that i had used silicone to stick it down and this happened

and the same on the other side

not only was the silicone stuck but when i lifted the spoiler it also lifted the paint from a crappy repair the previous owner had done,so out came the sander and the filler and the paint

After about 3 hours work ended up with this - not to bad,just got to feather the new paint in when its hardened

Another couple of hours work tomorrow and hopefully it should be sorted.

Not a bad repair considering the air temp and weather your working in... A little cutting compound when the paint is hard enough and it will be sorted..
You won't even notice that once the new spoiler is on..

It will do till i can repair it proper next year when the weather(if the weather)warms up

Gotta say top job!! Especially if you did all that outside! If you're respraying the tailgate next year anyhow, I'd have cheated and just lay a piece of black vinyl down either over the bad bits or the whole top. That would have sealed it down lol. Hats off to you Mike for being mad enough to do it properly

I did think of that Kully but the paintwork had properly bubbled and i wanted to nip it in the bud before any of the dreaded rust took hold, luckily the rain held off

Don't blame ya! Always best to do it right Obviously cheating is for idiots like me that think "gonna do it again anyway" then when you get round to it finding the rust is way worse because you forgot to douse it in Kurust lol

Hats off to you Mikey, not the best conditions for this sort of work. It's a good idea as said before though to get it sorted properly at the other side of winter, or whenever you're having the respray done.

Very nice job there, not sure I could have/would have tackled that myself. Once you get the new spoiler fitted you won't see it anyway.

Right bit of an update better late than never i suppose,finally managed to blend paintwork in -not 100% happy with it as its a slightly different colour black (think it was RichB that once said you get brown black and blue black and he was spot on) you can only see it when very close.
Anyway got spoiler fitted and it looks great really follows the lines of the car better than the OEM one,Si thought the spoiler needed repainting but gave it a bloody good buffing and a good coat of wax and its come up a treat

I also had some angel eye headlights off Si that were a bit yellowy so while i had the buffer out i gave them a good polish with some scratch cream and they have come out like new--very happy
