the saint

hello there as you can see from my post count something dont add up so let me explain...........

back in 2009 i was about to buy a cougar to make my track car when the guy let me down and the very next day an rs2000 mk6 came up for sell that i actually knew very well so bought that and the cougar idea died, i went on to biuld and paint this rs2000 into my yellow track monster and thing where great until 3 weeks ago when some low life broke into it and it just killed me so ive now broke the rs but kept a few choice mods and hopefully next saturday i will have a cougar2 2.0 in black which will become my daily use/track slag hehe so there it is hopefully i will finally get my hands on a cougar and become a useful part of this forum i hope.

i was tempted to keep my rs2000 engine and fit the whole engine and box into the cougar but the zetec is just as good and for the hastle ect of wiring it in i cant be bothered lol

im going to keep my cobra seats from the rs so the whole cougar interior can go but as im gonna use it daily i`ll keep the radio and air con as im getting old and bored of driving 40 miles a day get bumped and rattled around lol (im 28 hehe)

That RS looks quick, shame it got broken into. What damage did they do exactly??? Good to hear your going down the route of a Coug track day car, although using as a daily runner too?? I'd be inclined to have one as a track day car and then either another Coug as my daily runner or another similar beast for every day use. I personally have two cars - my Coug for weekends/days off (only when dry) and shows/events. Then I have my Mondeo TDDi for everyday motoring. The best of both worlds I guess.

my rs2k was very quick on track because im a very very very keen track driver lol all ive ever wanted to do was race but ive never been able to afford it so track days have ahd to do.

i think the cougar is such a perfect shape and with abit of serious dieting and a couple a choice mods like my lsd gearbox the car could be a surprise package if i can make it handle well enough......

I reckon if you stripped it right out, uprated the suspension, lowered it a touch and fitted a pair of strut braces then a Cougar could be a useful track car, especially with an LSD and a breathed on Zetec. The V6 is a great engine and I love it dearly, but it's a bit of a lazy old Hector. I think your Zetec choice would lend itself far more readily to becoming the sort of frentetic buzz box that track work suits, there's also an infinite amount more tuning options for it.

The cougar can be made to handle extremely well mine has been stripped for a while and is a zetec and with eibach springs and shocks, new wishbones, uprated rear anti roll bar it handles awesome leaving a lot of cars wanting in the bends just needs more power.

On a side note mine is running 215/35/19 wheels and tyres which even though narrower than the standard 225 tyre width works much better feels much sharper to turn in.

cheers guys i think the ztec just has abit more to offer for the track but if a cheap v6 does come up i could be tempted purely for the noise hehe, im gonna make my own exhaust from ss bits ive collected over the years but i cant make it to loud otherwise i wont get it on track lol.
what lowering springs are out there height wise??? i plan to run a set of 17ins oz superleggeras that ive had for a while due to there weight plus i think great looks.

i just hope i can find a cheap cougar2 as i like the dash and front bumper better......... the one im after the guy isnt replying to me now...... typical really

Loads of springs out there, Eibach, Spax, Pi and Weitec are the ones that spring (no pun intended) to mind right now, most offering around a 30 - 35mm drop. Did I read your post right by the way, you actually prefer the look of a C2 bumper to the C1? Now that is a first!

yep its a c2 i want as i can see a way of making that bumper real nice where as that earlier one just dont look right......... no doubt im going to upset people but i think silver ones look bad lol, blue or black and if i cant find one then i`ll paint it myself a ford colour like crystal blue or flint grey lol i would say yellow like how i did my rs2k but i think the cougars shape just wont work lol

i work in a body shop and have my own workshop that i work from at weekends too so i am looking forward to playing with a cougar just need to find one.......... i dont want to pay or buy one thats too good but i am after one with tax and mot that i can use a sort as i go sort of thing.

Sounds like an intersting little project. Only just noticed your location, feel free to pop in for a brew and a chinwag mate.

Alright mate, sounds like you know what your after, as for the Cougar2 well.... I can't comment ;) (check the signature pic) ;)

There actualy exists a coil-over kit for the cougar, although its a bit expensive at around £1500 made by Kw.
I'd stick with the Zetec mate, after taking the cat around Castle Combe the other week I felt the car was a little heavy at the front due to the V6 being a big lump.

mate i feel silly as i saw you at beaulieu on sunday but im really not good at introducing myself lol i saw the only c2 on your stand was one of the 15 best fords of the day lmao

i was there in my wifes black focus estate and my mum and dad had there black rs20004x4 and paris blue mk2 xr2 at the show too
