Anyone know what seats fit the cougar and if there are many interiors around for sale?

There is a complete leather interior on ebay at the moment

The Cougar seats are quite unique, Mondeo seats sit too high from memory

C2 seats are the way to go, far more comfortable than the C1`s

Can be a pig to suss wiring though as i found out fitting them in mine and quite rare but do look good.

Can someone remind me on what's involved in swapping C1 seats for C2, there must be a thread somewhere...
Thinking of doing this on the Beast at some point.

For some reason my wiring did not conform and ended up having to reverse two of the wires to make it work forget wich now but for example if it was blue to blue and red to red i had to go blue to red on both connections to make it work !

It does depend on the age of the car. Some late (W or so) C1s have the same looms as the C2, so it's a straight swap.

Credit to Jim (lucid), if you do find that the looms are different, the easiest thing to do is identify what wire in the car loom goes to what wire in the seat loom, pick out the wires from the connectors and then match them up with correctly paired connectors.

Its easy to suss with a test lamp but i tried to wire as per how to thread but did not work. Have also had to disable heated seat as power is always live to it on mine and flattens battery overnight if left on.

It goes without saying that anyone trying that method would do well to avoid doing this to the yellow-sheathed wires. Anyway, that How-To may be superceded by the one that Al and I did after the fun we had with Mako and the original S600GAR; it seems that there were several wiring options - body and car - so the answer you need might not be absolute.

By the sounds of it, you've got the thick blue wire in the wrong terminal.

Who needs heated seats anyway, tried otber combinations on the wiring but did not work also srs light does not work.

I never use my heated seats, but not having them work would bug me; I never stand back from a technology challenge. But I get what you're saying.

As for the SRS, how are you gettig through MOTs? They're supposed to check that the light illuminates and then goes out at startup. Though if your guy is old-skool, maybe he doesn't...

In mine and Al's cases, our SRS lights were flickering a set pattern before we figured it out, so would not have got away with it.

Passed no trouble without it working but just changed to c2 clocks and constantly flashed so bulb now removed. If it fails mot in future i will cheat and piggy back a light off a other bulb so it looks like its working.

That's not unheard of, definitely. EML/MIL seems to be a favourite for that since it cycles at power-on in the same way.

That's one to remember just in case(y)

You wouldn't be alone - it's quite common in the States where the "inspection" just involves the lights coming on and going off. Or the MIL not coming on.

Your MOT guy isn't allowed to take anything apart - he can't even remove a wheel to look at your brake pads - so any risk is down to you I guess.

I can't even bring myself to be emotionally invested in a safety decision that someone makes, unless it affects me in some way, but faulty SRS isn't even in that sphere.
