Look at my ruined subframe!

Finally got round to fitting the new subframe today, so took some photos of the old one...

yes, it really is as bad as it looks (down to 1-2mm all round and totally rotted all over, to the point where you can poke holes in it with a finger). As you can imagine, fairly glad I did that lol.
 
I did mean to say other than robbing ford is the part number the same for both cars ? And is there any body out there who supply a pattern part ..

Other than a very slight difference in the reinforcing plates (one solid one on the Cougar, two smaller ones on the Mondeo), the Cougar and Mk2 Mondeo subframes are one and the same, wholly interchangeable. Indeed, I have a refurbished and galvanised Mondeo subframe bolted up under my Cougar.

It's a complicated series of pressings welded together. The tooling to press the parts and the jig to weld it together straight pretty much precludes anyone reverse engineering it to make pattern parts.

You need a new shaft for your hammer too
