Hi again all,

some may remember me from around this time last year when I bought a wreck of a Cougar, spent a fortune on an engine swap & overhaul for it and then completely lost the will to live when I found out that the engine wasn't the ST engine that it was supposed to be. Despite pushing a respectable 185bhp with just the exhaust & manifold done, I hated the thing for costing so much and part/ex'd it for an RX8.

Since then I've got fed up with the running costs and fiddlyness of the wankel, sold the RX8 and gone back to what I'd been used to before the Cougar, and bought a Hyundai Coupe. This time it was the SIII 2.0. This was my "sensible" car after the RX8 and it's served me well since September.

HOWEVER. Now it's come the time to teach the girlfriend how to drive else she's never gonna get a job and stop freeloading :LOL: so I'm selling the Coupe to get something cheaper. So I'm thinking that I'll buy another Cougar (A GOOD ONE THIS TIME!) and either teach her to drive in it, or if it's not really suitable I'll be able to afford two cars, though I'd rather not have it come to that.

I've already checked the insurance and a V6 is on the cards despite her being on a provisional licence :) Just seen a nice blue one on autotrader with low miles and looks real nice on, what I think are, mondeo ST alloys(?) Just need to sell the SIII first!

Anyway, sorry for the essay, and I hope things work out better this time!

Dan

I remember lol!! Shame it didn't work out with the last one but hope you have better luck this time. I guess you'll be looking for a standard one if its for the Missus? I maybe parting with mine very soon!

Well... I'd love to get the Cougar badges and maybe the headlight covers done like the last one did... they really got a lot of attention from the public!

Already took a look and nothing jumps out at me, but thanks anyway Peter. There are a couple of nice-looking local-ish ones on autotrader.. just need someone to buy my current car first!

Exactly mate! I keeps the public guessing. im a bit of a mystery in Wycombe (my car i mean) lol

Good luck nextime dude! hope you get what you need.

Hello and welcome back to the fold Dan. Hope you manage to locate a good coug that your girlfriend can learn to drive in.

Has anyone else tried to teach someone to drive in a Cougar? I learnt to drive in a people carrier so I know you don't have to learn in a tiny hatchback, but I can't remember how good the visibility is for the cat!

Well rear vision isn't brilliant mate, remember its a big car at the back and the boot sticks out more than you can see, same at the front, if you sit too low you wont know were the front of the car is as the bonnet slopes. Side visability is quite good though.

I'll almost certainly end up going for a nice low mileage example and therefore not let her near it :p will just have to put up with the epic expense of running two cars
