Love or hate

being a tell tale here .... Mart had some very nice mercury badges that were meant to be used as centre caps on the wheels I sold him last year .. or the year before.

A bit late here, but I'm not a fan of fake split rims, which is what those "bolts" look like they're supposed to represent.

Those 5-spoke rims with the RS badges look great.

Wheels have now been collected for me by Dave (localloon).

He says they are in excellent condition though the inside of the wheel has some over spray. Can't say that bothers me too much to be honest with you.

Anyway, big thanks to localloon for helping me out on this, saved me a three extra hours on the road and some coin on fuel.

Really appreciate it fella.

I wonder if I made the wrong choice. All appeared to be fine with the wheels....no apparent damage or buckle but I have had tyres put on, I have had them balanced and rebalanced and its like de ja frigging vu.....shuddering through the steering wheel at motorway speeds aaaarrrgggh

Try swapping the fronts and backs over to see if it still shudders, if it cures it maybe start looking at bushes? I'm no mechanic but it may be worth a try?

All the suspension (apart from wishbones) has recently been renewed Dave. I wasn't getting these issues through oem wheels.

I have found one of the front tyres fitted has a hell of a ridge on the inner edge, so I am off back to the tyre place this afternoon to have the front two tyres replaced (at their cost) and see if that makes a difference.

They aren't happy, but frankly, neither am I!

I didn't miss any 'damage' to the wheels did I Dave?

I didn't inspect them closely but I didn't notice anything either? Apart from the old weights were kept on them, I presume the guys that fitted the tyres took those off and started afresh? Other than that I don't know bud, can they check for a buckle whilst balancing them?

Could be any number of things Si standard wheel tyre combo hides a lot due to the tyre flex available, swap front to rear first may be a off balanced wheel/tyre or a slight buckle in one wheel.

Do you have spigot rings fitted or needed and not fitted?.

JJ

I have been to a different tyre place in Scunny this morning and they said it being caused by the near side front tyre, and the very defined edge.

I also don't think its helping that the front tyres are narrower than the rear.

That's getting amended.

I really like the look of them too

They don't appear to need spigot rings JJ, its a thought that crossed my mind last night, but they are Ford wheels.

They appear to sit nicely on the hubs with no 'give'

Off back to the original tyre place this afternoon, which frustratingly is in Grimsby.

I am going to get them to change the front two tyres regardless and swap front to back, so how that goes.

If not, they are getting flogged

Are they? They're very nice looking and I like them a lot, but I don't recognise them as OE wheels from any Ford I can bring to mind.

Rich, I think your right matey, they look like aftermarket alloys - same as these:

Obviously other than being a 4 stud wheel - that picture is just for an example.
