I gather now there is no Haynes manual for this car. Although its for the US/Canada market, does this offer any useful info:

There never was a Haynes manual for the cougar. The Chiltons one is mainly aimed at the contour (US mondeo) and Mystique models with some cougar stuff in there. I own this manual and tbh, i hardly ever look at it. Get a mk2 mondeo haynes manual, all the techie spec stuff is exactly the same, just different body panels.

I've got a Chilton one very rarely does it tell u enough to do a job on the car.

Ford dealerships have been using electronic manuals for some time now. You can get this same workshop manual they use at http://www.repairmanualworld.com . Just remember it's the Mercury Cougar 1999-2001, and the car it covers is LHD.

The manual does cover everything though and in great detail.

Looks like a copy of TIS from the description in the link, even down to including the ST200 Cougar that never was.

I just use a mk2 Mondy haynes, get one for a few quid off ebay

Back on the subject of manuals, the C2 owners guide has all the specs for the ST200 version that was never officially released.
