Just a quick thank you to everyone on the forum who convinced me to keep the cat and do the MOT work myself, front wishbones, track rods, ARB bushes, rear shocks, ARB bushes, brake disks, pads, both handbrake cables, and a big special thanks to ggsumo for supplying a rad that I bust after mindlessly jacking the sub frame up, (who would of guessed, V6 rad fits in the 4 pot lovely) all done by 1 man on a mission, in 1 weekend for under £500!!!

Oh and she sailed thru the MOT retest, another cougar on the road for another year, maybe I will get to see her hit the 200k mark, only 25k left!!!

Cheers guys, you're all superstars

Fantastic news on the MOT Gav - must be a real feelgood feeling that you did all the work yourself. And as for the help - just another great example of what this club is all about innit (y)

Nice one, I wouldn't be brave enough to tackle things like wishbones myself. A good group of bods on here to help though :)

I wasn't anything to do with this, but I was the same 12 years ago. Really pleased you had a good time working on your own car, and hope that more people learn to do basic maintenance with proper guidance. Salute'

great news.....did you say the v6 rad fits the zetec?

That could be good for me

Yeah it's a good fit, it's about 10mm deeper than than zetec, but height and length wise perfect, even the mount spacing is perfect, just one little mod tho, there is a smaller inlet or outlet pipe at the top of the drivers side of the rad, all you need to do is get an M8 bolt, small bit of hose and 2 jubilee clips and blank it off, works a treat, and car seems to run a bit cooler ;-)

I did feel somewhat of a pillock on Sunday afternoon when i realised yours was a 4 pot. But it was great news when u texted to say that it fitted - really glad your back on the road Gav.

I've had loads of help from people here, especially with my wishbones, and it felt really good to be able to help somebody back.

well done mate, see, you just needed a bit of encouragement, i couldn't have done all that in a week never mind a day, you've well and truly earned that 12 month ticket dude (y)

helps having a readily available workshop with wi-fi (to search the how-to section), compressor, gas axe:devilish:, and a Dorris to bring you coffee and bacon butties:), and a BIG ASH TRAY:LOL:, the last 2 are THE most important(y)
