Matt black cars; talk to me, people.

Is it an idea that's played out? Am I an asthetic throwback who, like, really needs to get with it, grandad? Or is this a look that at least someone needs to do to a Cougar and it may as well be me?

Or should I just confine it to the interior?

Poll on its way...

Love seeing matt black cars, a matt black Cougar would get a thumbs up from me...

..but I wouldn't do it to mine. I like the idea and I want to see it done, but I like mine shiny :)

Thank you - now go and vote!

The only reasons I haven't gone with this are:

1) I wouldn't do it to Tiger because I love her hail dents. I'd need to buy another Ebony.
2) It actually does feel outdated even if I think it's cool.
3) They are a collosal pain to look after, be it paint or vinyl.

I just want to know what people think.

Dont do it Chris i think you will be very dissapointed with it in the end, looks good on some cars but i think the cat wont suit stealth

I think Matt Black done correctly looks awesome on most cars. By correctly, I mean in a manner where the finish is even and consistent be it paint or vinyl. The patchy look is sh!te.

I'm sure it's been done somewhere? I'll have a root through some images Chris and if I find one, I'll send it you. Gotta be honest, I'm a fan of the Matt Grey that BMW do. That's an awesome finish [emoji6][emoji106]šŸ½

Here it is and it looks S***E

And another one

Top one, definitely a rattle can special and crap. The second one has an even finish and looks well done.

I think edgy cars with corners look good with matt wrapping. Edgy car's don't reflect as much and can really look good with it as they have sharp angles that give the matt shading and depth. Think about how many Matt Murcielagos and BMW's there are with matt wrapping. The issue with the Cougar is that whilst it's 'new edge', it's striking curvy. It has smooth round lines virtually all over. The Pearl Frost is more reflective than other Ford colours as it's almost pearlescent in different lights. The Melina and Black polishes beautifully and they end up looking almost as shiny as a chrome ball with all the round reflection.

This is of course, my opinion, and I think that the Matt black Cougar's shown above look like unfinished and dirty concept cars. They need the shine to animate them and bring them to life. Put it in comparison with a more edgy car like the BMW and you can see how rounder surfaces just look strange with it.

Perfectly explained (y)

I've never yet seen a matte black car and not thought, "My gosh, that automobile has a remarkable semblance of wheeled excrement."

Cougar wont look good matt for sure. Matt is for how to say, bulkier cars, cars with different edges and lines than cougar's. Shiny is the only way for our cars

No don't like the look at all, mat black sills, valance, bonnet etc on 60s mustangs and most other yank iron looks cool, more modern designs just look naff.
