Matt Black

To matt, or not to matt?

generally not keen on matt colours, if done they still seem to have a sheen to them, definitely don't like the cheap jobs that are so often seen were the person has just rubbed down the colour to flatten off
but each to there own, you have to be your own person and do what you want, and stuff the rest, you have to live with it and enjoy it,so it should be your choice

Screw the poll Chris. It's your car! No poll should decide a choice YOU are free to make about YOUR property. There's been literally hundreds of modifications over the years deemed as trash by people on here. Did it stop those mods happening? No. Good or bad, they're all there. Your motor, get some cheap vinyl off eBay and have a play! Worst case, you pull it off and chuck it away [emoji6]

On that point I definitely agree with you and Lazybones.

Actually, with a decent 3M vinyl I'd at least have the option to revert it quickly. Maybe this is the prompt I need to have a play with the roof...?

This is why I asked. You guys always thrash around ideas and come up trumps, (like the seller's rules recently). I really appreciate that.

Exactly
The poll asked for opinions, which you got, but it is your decision, just have a go. :D

2nd that, its your car and its up to you what you do with it, i love my c2, lots hate the look of the front on here and there quite within there rights to say so, in fact if you read any motor mags they all seem to trash the cougar full stop, seldom buy modern car mags sticking to classic and US ones but did get a two for one deal which had one as part of the deal and there on the in the back was the top ten worst fords, cougar was no 3, so just owning one is going to bring out the crap comments never mind doing anything non standard, if you like it then do it, you need only make yourself happy in the long run (y)

What I don't understand is, why some cars look good in matt black and others don't.

I know that previously in this thread we were talking about Mustangs and the like and the suggestion was that matt suited the aggressive lines. But to my eye, the NB MX-5 looks good in matt black as well, and there's no way that car could ever be described as 'aggressive'.

It's got to be something to do with the line of the wheel arches, I think? Not sure.

Anyway, I have my plan now so thank you for that; and this has been a very interesting thread. I've appreciated the opinions.

i actually had a matt black mk3 escort...and it looked good..
the problem with these is they all look off black...goin grey.
my escort was a real deep black matt and it looked great but it was a sod to keep right and was a disaster if the car wash put wax on it..it went all patchy.

but i dont think its right for a coog and tbh yours is seriously sshhiinneeyyy...all she needs is a couple 100 quid given to a bodyshop..they'll soon pull them dents out without even affecting the paintwork...but then its so shiny i didn't even see them till u pointed them out chris..you should see my poor drivers door..dented to hell it is(tesco battlescars)..this is just my opinion mate and you should do whatever you want...but pls pls dont put a massive spoiler on it..pls

I appreciate the answer and I do agree with you, but if I was going to get her resprayed at all, it wouldn't be a few hundred quid. It'd be the same job that T's had done and we're going 4 figures.

Now, I love Tiger - everyone knows that - but she doesn't actually need that respray. Which is to say that her scars are fine by me. When I look back at her after parking up, I don't smile any less just because she's been through the wars.

I'll play around, have fun, and she'll mean all the more because of it since I'll have done the work. She'll become mine more and more.

But rest assured, I will not put a spoiler on her of any sort. I've decided on that and it's not happening.
