South coast in a cougar
Yesterday while driving our Focus i noticed there was a drowning sound from time to time as the turbo started spool in .....
Then a little later When i was dropping Katie off at a friends house as she opened the door i picked up on a god awful rattle

, I jumped out and opened the bonnet and it was really loud .... to the point i was a little worried .
So i drove it home on a light throttle thinking of all the problems i have experienced with this type of engine in Citroens and i will be honest i was a little concerned to say the least .
I decided to park it up and think about it in the morning

So 1st thing today i put the car up on stands to remove the monster under shield , fired the car up and sure enough rattle rattle rattle .
So under the car i go to start looking around the car and i was very pleased and re leaved with what i found .
There is a bracket that helps support the fap filter ... it appears to have cracked and simply come adrift from the lower exhaust on the car . Now this is quite a new part on the car .... under 4 months old ... so my options are back to the manufacturer and try to get a new one , mean while the car is off the road for at least 3-4 days

Or i simply weld the bracket back in to place when i go back to work on Tuesday

I think it will be the 2nd choice just because i know the weld will be stronger and last longer if i do it

So it looks like my new year starts with me working on cars again

Sounds very much like my relief when I found it was a loose heat shield which was causing an awful rattle and dragging along the road and it wasn't the whole exhaust system falling off.

I love the feeling of relief when you find out that horrible oil leak/bottom end knock/juddery steering/ grinding sound out of nowhere isnt going to cost you an arm and a leg! :)

Shame I dont get that feeling as much as I'd like to with my cat! :(
