Mercury MC2 Concept photos

The problem with the MC2 is that it looks like an unfinished 90s concept car. The sort of thing that you'd expect to see in Demolition Man.

I don't hate it - I'd buy one assuming that the body allows for practial things like lowering the windows - but it's interesting to me that the way Ford went with their performance cars is closer to the Cougar-S. Just look at the lines of a modern Mustang... And then look at a Camaro, which is a GM product.

The MC2 looks more like a completely inappropriate Cadillac. Also GM.

I actually quite like it Chris, but I know what you mean.

So, there were two 'Concept Cougars', as detailed in above thread. (Cougar Concept S that I have the body kit for, and the Mercury MC2)

Was the Mercury MC2 Concept a one off build, and what happened to it?

I have photos of it at NEC Motorshow 1998 , so it came over the pond.

If i'm not mistaken, Renault lifted some of the design characteristics from the front end, even the panoramic roof is now in full production by another French manufacturer? and the "look" has also been artificially re-created with the aid of some Gloss black paint

Oh my. I see now what you're going for and I think it'd be amazing. Unfortunately, I believe that it was a shell without an engine and its windows wouldn't have worked. That's not a car you could buy unless Ford would sell you a model.

:edit: You may enjoy this. Same deal.

So, was it really just a 'shell' Chris, whatever it was where is it now ?
That Rover coupe looks fine!
