Mk2 v6 rear suspension help

Hi all and thanks for allowing me to join,on my 2nd cougar now last one was way back in 99
i now have a 2001 mk2 v6 which I'm currently overhauling brakes and suspension, prob is I need correct rear mounts , local Ford dealer says only one listed for all cougars and also local motor factors supplied me with wrong ones stating only ones listed, as some of you are prob aware this is not the case ones I need are later type with plastic insert for spring to sit in, ones supplied springs are to big, don't want to change springs and want to keep it standard, any help locating these would be great

Hi thanks but they are rotten and unserviceable, and also spoke to another Ford dealer who tells me they are no longer av

You could swap the springs for a standard Mk1 set and use your new mounts with those - pretty sure someone on here will have a set they don't need
 
That would be great your not far then as I'm in Falkirk , think this is my best chance, doubt it will be much difference with ride height etc can you send me contact details and I will give you a call?

I think it's worth adding, anybody struggling to get the parts for the C2/later type rear suspension strut components, simply replace the complete strut from a C1.

Mine were rotten to or i would have hung on to them for any member that needed them, but yes mk1 springs and mounts seem to be the way to go.

just waiting on paint drying to refit struts ��
maybe worth mentioning btw if I hadn't met Dick today I was going to buy new springs and fit them , luckily when thru at dicks I realised there's a spacer between mount and strut which I was unaware of, worth noting if you have a c2 and change mounts new ones don't come with spacer

Because i fitted lower springs to my c2 i needed mk1 mounts and yes you need the spacers but they are avalable, as far as i can see the c2 mounts are no longer avalable if they ever were in the first place which does seem odd
