morrison's petrol

Funnily enough the checkout lady at Morrison's today gave me my first Christmas voucher and said "every little helps".

I damn near wet myself.

Sadly there's nothing would entice me to feed a V6 Cat their fuel.

Awesome for my other half's motor though. :D

Why not?

Did a test back in the summer, full tank of supermarket fuel vs full tank of market leader fuel - absuloutely no difference at all as far as I could tell.

Well to be fair that cat exploded.

This one hasn't tried anything else yet...but after some testing over the summer in the good lady's car I'm 100% convinced that while V-Power costs 8-10% more a tankful takes me 10%+ further....

We tend to use Tesco, Asda or Jet for both petrol and diesel, depending on which we're near when we need fuel. All usually within a penny of eachother on price and I've never noticed a jot of difference between any of them as regards economy or performance.

But spending £60 at Morrisons in order to get your 15p a litre off has probably cost you an extra £10 in the first place.
Apart from buying purely special offers I find them expensive.
And when you are doing 30000-40000 miles per year a 10% saving is a lot

Morrisons are actually sensibly priced?! We had a Nectar voucher through for 12p a litre off when you spend £40 in Sainsburys. We did that, petrol worked out at 124.9p/l and cost me £54 for just about 3/4 tank. Should have been £60ish. They're all just ploys to get people in store! Nothing else. The savings at the pump end up being added on in store for the period of the promotion so that in the week after they can say "£1.49 cheaper than last week" etc of offer premium brands on BOGOF etc.

IMHO some models of engine seem to like certain fuels, probably because of the additives and detergents.

Others - particularly French cars for some reason - don't seem to care. I rented a Megane for a few days and got the impression that I could've urinated in the tank and it would've run the same.

That said, I see no harm in filling up with the occasional tank of something different in a standard production car. Cheap fuel is going to have cheap additives and might not be 100% healthy. But the way I see it, junk food isn't going to kill you unless you eat it every night.

If i need petrol, i put it in. Simples :). Morrisons is the nearest petrol shop to me but i rarely use it, last week i had shell, this week it got Tesco's momentum or whatever it is.
