I put my car in for it's MOT yesterday. I took it to the garage that does all the work and servicing on my mate Steve's Taxis as it is closer to my house that the regular place I take it to,
After a couple of advisories last year, slight play on the Steering rack and slight play in a ball joint on the drivers side front drop link, I really expected it to fail. I left a new set of drop links in the boot and told Bob they were there if he needed them.
I was getting quite worried when I did not receive a call before the garage closed last evening and resigned myself to the fact that it had failed drastically.
I got a call from them a little while ago asking where my wheel locking nut was. It was in my toolbox in the garage and I said I would bring it straight up. When I got to the garage, Bob said he needed it as he was going to adjust the handbrake cables as they were a bit slack. No mention of any other failings, so, fingers crossed, I will get a call soon to let me know it has passed.

I just got my car back and she has only gone and passed yet again. The problem with the hand brake was down to worn pads on the rear, so, Bob just got another set and replaced them.
Only two advisories, Nearside Front and Nearside Front to Rear brake pipes slightly corroded.
Not really bothered about these as I will be doing the whole underside of the car throughout this winter while she is off the road.

Could be wrong, but I interpret that as, "I know I'm your friend, but also that means I don't want to just wave your car through the test. Even though it would pass easily anywhere else. So you might want to grease your brake pipes mate." Wink.

Congrats on a solid motor, Dick.

Knowing Dick, I'm sure he'll be dealing with the advisories soon.

Please don't get me wrong. I meant that there was probably nothing wrong with it, but that his tester would worry about being investigated for passing a 16(?) year-old Ford without an advisory.

Dick's car is beyond reproach as far as I can tell. ;)
