Judicious use of a lump hammer and a block of wood should see a great improvement and then ask for the tyre seats to be sealed with the black gunk most independant tyre fitters swear by.

well, if i do not repair them (and if the costs are quite high it aint worth it) I will be keeping one as my spare wheel - the one which has a brand new tyre on it

like i say it just depends on the cost Phil.

I have thrown about 400 notes at cat4 in the last week....and paid £600 more than i can afford for a faceless eurobox.

Never mind eh?

Those can be repaired, however, before using a lump hammer and a piece of wood, you need to heat up the area first. Two of my alloys on my Mondy were/are in a similar state. Mine are fine and have no problems at speed and I have driven up and down from London with them, with no worries. But, as I said Si, heat them first as if you try knocking them out while they are cold you could end up cracking them. Don't over heat them either, just enough that they feel hot to the touch.

..and i think its a little irresponsible to recommend heaing up and hitting with hammers..this is a job for a professional company to do not a DIY job.

Indeed, I would agree, however, I went to a professional place in Exeter and the bloke there said if I wanted to save a few quid, that's what I could do, otherwise, they actually cut, grind and re-weld the area with the damage. I was advised anything up to £94 per wheel including spraying to match original colour.

But, thinking about it, would be better and possibly safer to buy a cheap set off eBay, but I know with Si, pennies are always short!
