need a new engine!!! help!!!!

I just done the St200 swap, it is more straight forward than the St220 swap and alot cheaper. But if you are after something unique then go for it, but if you just need an engine then I would do what I did and have the St200 done. I am over the moon with my car now. It is everything it should have been from the Ford Factory. Mine cost £700 all in, so that was for engine + labour + ECU flash. I also had some SS headers and Y-Pipe done at the same time. My car is not a totally different beast all together.
The Bolton Mafia done mine, you need to get these guys to do it for you.

The standard V6 will work out cheaper as an initial purchase - the ST200 engines naturally fetch more cash.

Whichever you choose, it's good practice to fit a new clutch kit while the engine is out. Also consider future mods - for example, stainless exhaust manifolds are a breeze to fit with the engine out of the car. Team these with a stainless exhaust, ST200 inlet manifolds and throttle body, a remap and it'll be not far off a standard ST200 anyway (if not a bit more power than a standard ST200 due to the uprated exhaust and manifolds and remap). It's also been recently discovered that the most recent ST200 engine map can be flashed onto a standard ECU (y)

great advice im leaning more towards the standard engine or the st24 either way il definatelly think about adding them mods while the engines out. in a way im glad the engines blown gives me the opportunity to beef it up a bit i want it to smash my mates volvo 850 t5 if possible!!!

If you want to keep his T5 in sight you won't do it with a modded standard/ST24 engine at a minimum you need st200 with manifolds and sports cat.

A standard engine or ST24 are identical and will need more than bolt on mods to keep up with a T5 let alone trounce it.

Personally I don't rate the ST200, I prefer the 24, obviously with the 200 uppers and lowers though, and a 220 Throttle body. The gearing ratio in the 24's is better, even know a few 200 owners that have put the 24 box. The delivery on the 24 has more torque as well.

i fink im gona go for either the st200 or just the standard swap what ever works out cheaper. nice car btw wot hp it running?

If you can get the St200 engine do that. The cost of fitting will be the same apart from £50 for the ECU flash.
Your choice in the end, but I was at the same point you are now 3 weeks ago, and I went St200 route because one came up and it was already in the Mafia HQ.
Well worth it and I am as happy as can be right now. The car is really fast now and everything I ever wanted it to be.

Well I have got the best of both worlds then as I have got the Standard St24 box and St200 engine.

That's more about gearing though still won't keep a T5 in sight regardless it just doesn't have the guts I know for a fact as my old boss had a T5 no mods and against a lightly modded cougar (exhaust,GMK induction kit, chipped) which was mine I couldn't keep it in sight let alone keep up a modded st200 would stand a chance of keeping up and a ST220 like Dave now has would give one a serious run for its money I would imagine, the only way a standard V6/ST24 would keep up is with more than the easy bolt on mods in which case you're better off going ST200 route as it will be cheaper.

Subaru engine straight to the back wheels is way to go. Obvious more complicated than that but be special. There is even a forum devoted to people that have done this in many other cars, but seen it personally in fezza's and escorts.

There was a company the would drop your car onto Cossie running gear think it was about £5K, csann't remember their name though.

Subaru engine will go in but needs a space frame in the engine bay and inner wings removing (large parts of them) coswprth engine will fit but then you need to figure out the rear drive conversion which can be done by mafia as you could adapt the 4x4 conversion they do but would involve lots of custom fabrication you'd be better off doing a RS focus engine or turbo zetec.

I wouldn't trust anyone apart from mafia to do the conversion to ST 220 as others have promised and charged far more than mafia and failed to complete it.

Posted at same time as racebits ;) Subaru can drop in and run front wheel drive also they do kits to convert it to run front wheel drive.

Too wide same as Subaru engine needs inner wings chopping, honestly the best/most economical way to do it is ST220 conversion proven to work no major cutting/messing and 218bhp standard with a few choice mods, headers, de-cat, remap, filter and exhaust that's putting you past the power of a standard T5 likely more than a T5R
