Well took the pluge and ordered a set after seeing and liking the mirror display. Looks neat and compact without having the big box bolted to the dash. Seems that the senors are on all the time automatic so the seller said so we shall have to see.
Sensors are only live when you select reverse gear Tim. The mirror display also only lights up with reverse gear selected.
Basically I asked the question how where the senors activated, as I have gone for the 8 senors and was there a switch for the forward senors to activate them, as I have looked into other ones and others do have a switch to activate the forward senors. Will be interesting to try.
Are you sure thats the case Alan, my camera is live as soon as the ignition is on (I can basicaly drive along and see whats behind me) thought the sensors would be the same, and just the screen in the mirror is live when you select reverse (usualy scotch-locked into the reverse light curcuit) (My screen comes on on the radio when i'm reversing...provided the stereo is switched on that is)
Not sure how you would set it up so you had front sensors too? maybe a switch?
Different system Matt, the reverse sensors take power from the reverse switch, same supply as the reaversing lights:idea: Tim, you are probably correct regarding the forward sensors, i'd guess they are on permanently while the ignition is on.
Alan, there is only one way to find out, but it wil take a while before I put the front ones in as while the bumper is off I want to get as far as I can with headlight washers tube conected and washer jets.
