Hi all just got my ford cougar 2.5 v6 today on a v plate. Looks and drives like new, the last owner took the cat converter off for some reason and I want to put it back on. How hard is it to do and I take it I need it on for the next mot.

Is there anything I should look out on these cars because I can't believe what I got for my money, seems to good to be true. Thanks everyone.

It should be alright with 2 precats on the exhaust manifolds many of us one here have no main cats me included.
wellcome to the nuthouse.

Welcome to the club!

don't remember seeing a lot of negative press on the Cougar, most reviews I have read are positive especially from previous owners.
If you're dead set on re-installing the cat I'm sure someone here may be interested in swapping one for your decat pipe!

enjoy the ride (y)

Hi, welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.
re the negative comments: In my experience they tend to come from people who have never owned or driven one.

Hello and welcome aboard....negative comments?? huh?? where??? it's all positive around here. Re: your cat - I wouldn't bother, as others have said our cougs have 2 pre-cats on the exhaust and many people have had their cars through mot's with no issues. Get some piccy's up when you can, we all like to look at cougar porn lol!!

Forget the negative comments mate just enjoy your cat! Sure there are some known issues but they will all be documented in these forums, if you subscribe you'll get access to everything you need. Oh and welcome BTW.

Cool thank you, i really like my new purchase. i m not liking all the negative comments on the web about our cars.

The ford magazines shun it like a diseased bulls pizzle, always have, it's never been a mainstream favourite but as you will see from being a member of the club, the cars have a very keen following from those that have driven them, many people have sold them, then regretted the move and bought one again, some have repeated this more than once.

Welcome to the club. :cool::cool::cool:
