Hi all

Just registered on this forum after picking up a '99 Cougar V6. I spend most of my time on classic Ford forums as I have a small collection of Cortina, Capri, early Transit, and Sierra, but also a C3 Corvette, Suzuki VZR1800, Jaguar XJ, and a motorhome. The Cougar was rescued from being weighed in! It has low miles, stamped dealer history, and is in great shape so it was a no-brainer.

On the downside it only came with 1 key and no fob so they'll be the first things I'll be looking to sort. I also have to sort out the insurance side as it's too new to go on my classic policy and my provider for my daily driver won't add a second car.

Have a picture.

Hello and welcome looks a nice standard car and only down the way from me.

Keys are easy to get cut and fobs can be picked up on ebay and easily programmed.

Indeed. I don't suppose you were driving into town about 12:30 today? I can't say I've noticed many of these motors but I took a double take when one looking similar to mine was at the traffic lights at Cineworld earlier while I crossed in front of it.

That looks really clean!

Good on you for rescuing, why was it going to the scrapper?

I have no idea. It was already in the yard looking sorry for itself, but a couple of days worth of cleaning, plus another doing service items and tyres and it flew its MOT. It appears to have been simply neglected and abandoned. Fortunately a group of us do a lot with classic Fords so as soon as it was spotted it was rescued. People on here will no doubt agree but we think these are a future classic.

welcome to the club..
