Hi all, my name's Drew, i'm 26 and I live in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. I signed up to the site after a number of your members attended the NEFords.co.uk monthly meet yesterday, to share the photos and hopefully build a rapport between the two clubs.
I don't actually drive a Ford or Mercury at the moment, Cougar or otherwise, but I'm a big fan and have ordered a couple in my time. I have two cars at present, my daily driver is a 58 plate Twingo GT, a 1.15 litre turbo-charged hot hatch that pushes out an impressive 100bhp as standard whilst also being mega-economical to run;
Having bought it from standard with 28k on the clock, I've lowered it 40mm at each corner, had the roof, liscence plate panel, lower lip and rear diffuser wrapped gloss black, installed a BMC panel filter, fitted gloss black badge covers, a stubby aerial and power pedals, with lots more on the cards.
My other car is a Ford, but not a very conventional one.It's a Ford StreetKa which I know isn't to everyones' taste, infact, very fews, but it was a convinience purchase when my old C2 GT was abruptly written off and I needed a cheap and cheerful alternative for the commute to work.
I purchased the StreetKa when it was completely standard with just over 24k done, however, I've since made a number of modifications to it. In no particular order, it has had a wind deflector, smoked headlights and smoked side repeaters fitted.
It's been lowered 30mm on Eibach springs, spaced at the back by 15mm on Eibach pro spacers, has been re-badged thanks to DMB, has had a Cupra R splitter, aftermarket spoiler and fitted and last, but by no means least, the alloys have been resprayed gloss black.
Unfortunately the StreetKa is thirsty and undoubtedly one of the most awkward cars I've worked on, so I decided to opt for something that was more wallet-friendly with a bit more kick, thus the GT purchase. It also has a similar feel to it as my C2 did before a Prius driver took exception to it;
I'm keeping the Streetka, but it's being SORN so the other half can use it when her Fiesta, my first car, eventually succumbs to the inevitable rust issue they have. The Fiesta is a 1.2 litre Zetec which has been lowered with Eibach 30mm springs on 15 inch Fox Racing alloys. The bumpers have been sprayed gloss black, rear windows and lights tinted, Heko wind deflectors and K&N cone filter added, finished with a Zetec S body kit.
Anyway, i hope I haven't rambled on too much and would welcome your views, comments and criticisms on my cars, past and present.
I looking forward to sharing my progress on the Twingo, snapping more of your cars and contributing to the forum! Thanks for having me.
