Well, finally managed to get another Cat after my 206 gti was written off. Same colour as I had before, Blurple. MOT'd til Feb 2014 and 4 Months Tax. On a T plate and just hit 98k,leather interior, after some slight haggling got it for £440. Needs a couple of bits done to it, nothing too serious. It does not have original cd player and has this after market pish, no idea why people put after market cd players in, crazy. Anyway, this Cougar has the cd changer in the boot, is it possible to remove this and fit the Ford 6000 front loading cd player? If so,does anyone on here have one for sale? Will prob give it a decent service over the coming week or so, oil/filter change etc. anyway, its good to be back

Will you keep this one :-D

I have the 6000CD with a changer, straight swap for the 5000 that was fitted.

Make sure you get the correct 6000 unit, some of the earlier ones with buttons for the volume controls (from pumas etc) can't control a changer

Good to see you back!

Would the front loading Ford 6 x CD player not fit? without the changer in the rear

Ah ok you mean the 6006!
Yes they fit, though not sure of they have CD changer capability or not
They were an option on C2s I think.

In my previous Cougar, which was a 1999 V plate, it had a front loading 6 cd changer as opposed to having the changer in the boot. I wish I had removed it back then. I presume the Cat I just purchased is the X Pack, with the leather heated seats with the 6 way electric adjustment?

going back to the cd player, would the Ford 6000 fit ok so I can then remove auto-changer from boot?

As long as nothing was hacked about too much when the aftermarket HU was fitted then the 6000 and the 6006e should fit straight in. Fitting a 6000 and doing away with the boot changer will leave you with a single Cd; fitting the 6000 and keeping the changer will give you the option to have 7 Cd's.

I don't mind having a single cd player as long as its the original type for the car, hate after market cd players in a Cat, pfft

An OEM one should be fitted horizontally on the right-hand side of the boot floor at it's widest part under a fitted carpet covering with two CD-case shaped recesses in the top.

Ok, well, its a Poineer, looks grey in colour. I took a pic but have no idea how to upload.I tried inserting image from computer but nothing seems to be happening when I clicked uploado_O Anyway, regardless of what type auto changer is, I don't like it, just looks too 'tatty' . lol
