New owner and a convert to Cougar V6

Hi Folks
Have just bought a V6 Xpack and I have to say I am completely blown away by the car.
Looks great, drives great and all at an incredibly low price.
Seems to me that there are very few bargains around these days but the Cougar certainly is a lot of car for not a lot of money.
Mine is 2000 version in silver frost with 88k on the clock. Had been sitting around in the previous owners driveway for the last 2 years, with only 2000 miles put on the clock since its 2009 mot.
Needed a damn good clean just to get rid of the mould, but now its beginning to look the part after some elbow grease and a good covering of Collinite. I'll post some pics when I get round to taking them.

I've been driving it around for about 2 weeks and have now covered about 1000 miles, mostly around the country roads in the west of Scotland and even though I have been putting it through its paces it has still managed to average of 30.8 mpg.

I have been used to Audi's for the last 10 years - coupe quattro 5 cyl engine and I thought that was a smooth engine but I am prepared to concede that the V6 duratec is smoother and faster. And the Cat corners almost as well as the quattro did - if anything it is more fun than the quattro since you can get a good bit of tail drift when you play around in the wet - and it has been bloody wet here for the last 2 weeks.

I have been lurking on this forum getting tips and will subscribe to get access to the useful info you keep for subscribers only.

In the meantime I have just 1 problem that happened today - the digital display stopped displaying - both of the display readouts have gone completely dead - I am hoping it is a fuse but I am having some difficulty locating the fuse box - is it behind the glove box or do you have to remove the glove box to find it? I have had a good look up behind the glove box but for the life of me I cant find a fuse box.

Your help would be greatly appreciated chaps.

Welcome to the forum matey, look under the bonnet on the right hand side near the front for the fuse box (next to the battery) get your subs paid up mate you won't regret it!

The inner fuse box is behind the glove box.
You need to empty the glove box first then push the 'clips' at each side, the box will swing forward & down, (hence emptying it first),
you'll then see the fuse box, unclip at the top & hey presto.

BTW Welcome to ukcougar :)

Cheers Guys,
Thanks for the welcome - now subscribed so lots of advice in the various forums and some great How To's - going to take a while to get through them all.
Yes I am based in Tarbet on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond so apart from the stretch of the A83 between here and Crainlarich there are some wonderful roads to test out the Cat. So far very impressed, sure footed and a great all round drive.
The advice on how to get to the inner fuses helped but unfortunately they were all ok so I have still to get to the bottom of the digital displa not displaying - I'm sure I read somewhere something about the circuit board but for the life of me I can't find the relevant article again - even with the search facility.
Can someone point me in the right direction - I really do not want to have to replace the entire dash panel - is there a fuse that only effects the digital display? The fuse diagrams do not make it very clear.
Cheers

Well you were right - the problem dash digital display dried out and started working again this morning.
With hindsight it is a problem of my own making - in my efforts to clean up the car I had been using the hose on full power to jet all the crud out of the various panel and window joints - seems I managed to fill the boot well almost up to the top of the spare wheel - no wonder the de-mist was having a problem last weekend - so probably condensation caused the display to malfunction. So drained the boot and then waited 2 days and all is well again.
Anyway just have to wait for some sunny days and I'll post some pics of the cleaned up Cat.
Thanks again for your help.
