New owner and a convert to Cougar V6

Update on boot leak - looks like I spoke too soon about the source of the leak - not excessive hosing.
As we have had continuous pouring rain for the past month I have many opportunities to examine the likely causes - still not totally certain, but the water is gathering at the inside of the lower edge (on the surfaces both sides of the lock mechanism) and dripping into the well. So I am trying the easiest option first. I have tightened up the boot lid lock mechanism by dropping it down a tad to see if that tightens up the seal and if that doesn't work I'll attempt to remove and clean the boot seal and re-bed it on some silicon.
Heres hoping one of these works. At least we have loads of driving rain to test the various options just now.
By the way great search facility on this site, and apologies if I have put this in the wrong forum.

Hello and welcome

Maybe check the rubber gromit on the rear wash arm as well as i had a leak here and fecked the motor allowing water ingress to wheelwell.
JUMP IN AND ENJOY

Cheers Richie
Pretty sure it is getting in the slam seal at some point - all the water ingress is at the flat part of the back panel on either side of the locking mechanism - if the bloody rain ever stops I'll get the rubber seal removed, cleaned, turned through 180 degrees and rebedded on some 3M window seal. The rear wash arm seems ok - no sighs of any dampness on the linings at this point.
