Hi there
ive fancied a cougar for some time a blue 2.5 xpack came up locally so I grabbed it what a car I love it my previous cars were a pt cruiser/mgf/ xj6 this is better I'm planning to read all the info available here and do my own maintenance and a few minor mods has anyone got any advice on induction kits or is it best to fit a k&n panel filter as I like a growl from the engine cheers

Hello and Welcome.. Take a look around, and get used to the site, All the information you need about the Cougar is in the subscribers sections, There are plenty of possibilities for adding an induction kit, it all depends on what your looking for exactly.. Some prefer the panel filter as the V6 can suffer from heat soak, but there are also ways around that with cold feed pipes etc..

Hi and welcome!! There's heaps of info to be found in here, enjoy the reading lol. If you're after growl, my personal choice is the K&N57i kit. Also available in the Typhoon series now I believe for the extra advantage of an enclosed filter keeping out heat soak.

Enjoy! The search box should answer most things or just have a trawl through the sections and get a feel for the place ;)

Hi Topfish, welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.
I think you'll get mixed responces regarding the induction, some swear by the panel, and some love the extra roar that the cones can give. I'm sure you'll decide before much longer with the help and advice available here.

As previously mentioned, K&N 57i is the way forward if you want the growl

There are also induction kits supplied by Racebits (dogsbody) which work quite well, I have a good used one available, if you are interested pm me

Welcome to the forum.... Subscription is the way forward, as the guys on here know pretty much everything about the Cougars...
and welcome to the "Blurple" club... (y)

Hey Topfish you're in a similar spot to me.
I love the growl, and I also am thinking of an intake mod.
I don't want to lose the growl and also I don't want the excessive noise of an induction kit. What I'm looking for is something that might boost torque and pickup at lower revs (around the 2500-3500 range) whereas high flow filters and induction kits are better for high revs when you need the higher airflow (or so I gather), also I read that induction kits can sometimes have a negative effect at low revs.
I'm not doing it immediately (other stuff needs to come first) but I'd be interested in what you choose and what you make of it.
Enjoy,
Rod
