Hi, my name is Ricky i live in walsall (west midlands) i am now the owner of a Cougar 2.5 v6, ive always wanted one since i was 13-14 and my parents had one.

I brought the car 2 weeks ago and so far it has had close to £1,000 spent on it already, needless to say i think i am in love with it (displeasing to the wife)

anyway i look forward to seeing you all around, will get some pics when the rain knocks off :)

Welcome mate, congratulations on your purchase, have a look around the site loads and loads of information on here regarding these cars! I'm not selling other forums but I've definitely found it advantageous joining Newcougar.org as have some other members ;-)

Look forward to seeing some pictures :)

John

Hello and welcome!

We're a small(ish) niche club that loves this car, but we have a lot of history and hundreds of years' worth of accumulated experience. It's likely that any problem you come across, we've seen before.

You may notice that some areas are restricted to fully subscribed members. And although we really appreciate it when people become fully subscribed, I know that we all like input and participation from everyone who owns a Cougar. And if you have a Cougar issue, we'll at least point you in the right direction.

So look around, kick your shoes off and get to know us. Ignoring your wife's displeasure, you've bought an interesting car that will do you daily service if you look after it well. Maybe tell us something about your car ownership history? Or what you've had done to your Coug that's cost you a grand so far?

Thanks all :)

today my cougar may have gave birth to another  i now own 2 both 2.5 v6's main reason is i had brought a 'black' one then today seen a 'purple' one which was near enough imaculate inside and out for £300 (does have a rottern rear sub frame is going into try and save it if not it will become a doner car but would be ashame as it is really clean)

so far i have brought:

Braided brake hoses all round £110
Catback full Stainless steel exhaust £400 @ mij performance in walsall
new Alternator £300 (fitted)
new discs and Pads all around £120
New drop links £30
Double din Headunit with satnav £150
platnium spark plugs £30
induction Kit £55
Castrol Magnatec oil £50

will get some pictures uploaded soon but thats my starting work on

This is brilliant! "I liked it so much that I bought another one." Go you!

The Duratec 25 is very specifc about the plugs she uses. And not only that, she's very specific about the gap. If you have performance issues, (or MOT woes) that'll be why.

it was NGK plugs i fitted

That's why I asked.

It's happened on numerous occasions in the past where the fitting of NGKs has caused rough running on the V6.
There isn't a rational explanation but the V6 really does seem to perform more consistently with OEM Ford/Motorcraft plugs.

Where can you buy the Motorcraft ones from? Everywhere i seem to look is either Bosch /NGK or denso? What should the gap be? I havent got around to changing the plugs today so i still have time to give her the right plugs :)
