NEW Panel parts for our cougars?

lets get more feedback from anyone on here whos doing some digging.. part numbers please wherever you can get them Wings:
Bonnets:
Tailgates:
Doors or skins then we can get the numbers to eshop and daventry.. i am very confident all this is shipped back to usa and in a container.. as hendy already confirmed it..but they can trace the container through the third party source..then we can contact the third party who has them and take it from there how to deal with it. please bear in mind how much money we have all spent on cosmetics, its the main stuff we need to source... or there wont be anything to glam up in the future, i remember a converstaion i actually had with a ford manager on the any car in general on sales .. and he said.. we make more money on parts than we ever do on selling cars.. so hence why cougar vanished ...not enough parts sold.
As a retired Ford manager myself , the statement from another Ford manager regarding revenue from parts needs to be clarified. It is true to say that as a percentage of original cost vs sale price the profit margins on parts is greater than the profit margin achieved on a finished vehicle. However, the reason that parts are not available for the Cougar is down to the fact that the Ford purchasing policy is to maintain part supply for approx 10 years after production ceases. Obviously, there maybe parts in the system after 10 years but generally the contracts with suppliers will have ceased.

exactly however now that i have information from hendys eshop will do some sourcing thanks to quicksilver so this stuff can be traced then get some connection with said third parts who are in charge of the containers

Metroford replied asking for numbers. I've requested discount on 5 - 10 units. Awaiting reply. If this goes to a GB i'll hand it over to our resident Discounts mod aka scunnycougar.

COOL! go for it!

Thanks Anthony but it's Tony(lazybones) who deserves the credit; his link has been a 'sticky' in General Info for a while now. (y)

Well, as ever, it seems a handful of cougar owners are interested in keeping their cars on the road in the future, can we assume that everybody else has found some magic elixir for rust?

if i wasn't so confident with my rear subby, having put a refurbished one on in the last few months - i believe that will be find for 5+ years.

That said, I am a little surprised that 'only' four are interested.

If I had a spare £x I might possibly invest but the kitty is now dry.

I'm planning on getting one galvanised as soon as I drop on a decent one which will last 20 plus years rather than a "new" Ford powder coated one that will be rusty in 5.

Sorry to have joined this post so late. I have not been online for a while due to a death in the family. I still have my Blurple Cougar. Its nearly 20 years old but sill's etc are good. I have decided to strip the car for spares for mine, however, as you all know I live on the isle of Man so getting a shell back over isnt going to be easy. I am happy to donate the shell when its stripped, but I don't know if I can afford to ship it back. I am open to suggestions. I am away for the next 2 days for the funeral, so please be patient with replies.

Most of the Cougars owned by the hardcore owners who will keep it going no matter what have already had the subframe replaced most other owners will have heard/read about the issue and had it checked bytheir usual mechanic who has then probably wire brushed off the loose rust and used a rust inhibitor and probably also resprayed it. those left are more than likely thinking when it fails I will do something about it whether that be scrap the car or get a replacement. I agree it is good to have a spare available and ready but if you are limited for storage space, still feeling the bite of the cost of living or pay a local mechanic to do the work on your car and supply bits then its not viable to spend the money on a part that you may not need for a couple of years.

This is one of those times where the profit from the subscribers fee could be reinvested in the club. A stockpile could then be ordered at a discounted rate and sold to subscribers as and when required (y)

I don't think it is a matter of not wanting to, it's simple economics.
I struggle at times just to put petrol in the car never mind buying bits and pieces for that 'one day' scenario that might never come. If I could afford to buy one, I would.

I repeat This is one of those times where the profit from the subscribers fee could be reinvested in the club. A stockpile could then be ordered at a discounted rate and sold to subscribers as and when required (y)

I agree, in an ideal world this would be brilliant but, we as a club would need more long term continuous subscribers to fund such a venture.
