Got a new heated screen fitted today - only took me about 8 months..........
Thanks to Mr Morris for the switch and relay  - and to my insurance x/s for the screen.

The original had started leaking above the passenger seat and half way down the a post on the same side anyway so it needed doing no matter what.

Lost some originality though, the approved by ford hologram sticker from 2000 has gone.

Cant wait for the first frosts now. I can really - a steaming brew on the dash will do for the test!

Heh
You too.(y) Mines being done today ,only a standard one though as stupid me didn't get windscreen cover and at £425 for the heated one my budget wouldn't stretch..will be insured next year though and then i'll be looking out for aggregate lorrys..

Did it take em long to do?

About an hour in all. He did mention that the one he took out wasnt heated - but wasnt bothered really as all the wiring was there.
Went smoother than my focus one a few years ago (national windscreens) - that leaked instantly and had a 2 inch gap separating the 2 halves of the screen elements.
Got it replaced again at the depot and the car dried out!

It was autoglass yesterday - no probs so far with them.

Just go for a drive past a local hammer factory.

I had the same when Autoglass did mine. The guy fitting it just surmised that, as the relay, wiring and dash switch were all there then a previous owner must have fitted a non-heated screen at some stage to save money. I concurred with his surmission...

Wonder if I can claim as mines delaminating and get heated one fitted.

I should think so - mine was a little on the passenger top corner. i did give it a few digs with a screwdriver the previous day to make sure (within the drivers view!).
The screen was also peppered with 16 years of wear, as you could see loads of little chips when the sun was on it. That was my main excuse when i rang up.

Saw you on sat driving past - i was trying to get a super king sized bed into a mates clio..........we didnt!!

yea do it...

they've just finished mine and was surprised when he removed the trim to see it had also delaminated and was no longer stuck down in one corner.
its so much clearer now all the scratches have gone
he said its done well for 15 years old and most start to separate at this age....please to see that there was no rust under there also..
