Interesting reg......(F)~ SN used to be for vehicles regsistered in Dunbartonshire Scotland,in the days gone by.

All started with ASN 1, BSN 1 to 999 then through the series, reversals of number and letters etc......I used to own OSN 26 ! Years ago cops could spot an odd (not of this area) reg. no,an "out of COUNTY" vehicle. Where I lived. Nearly all vehicles had the same series all ending in SN...I had a van HSN 111L, BEFORE THAT YSN 844K......now it is all changed. Glasgow reg. vehicles were mostly GB,GD,GG etc.

If a cop spotted a car driving around Glasgow, with a reg. ending in NL.....like my Morris Marina 1.8TC coupe, DNL 970K.....he would know before stopping me that the car came from Newcastle !

Just a long long time since I have seen the reg. FSN !

Just an observation........1st thing I thought was a Scottish reg. car!......not so nowadays

 Harry your spot with your observation ....... My cat came from Scotland
No worries...did the old car number thing as a project at School....we then worked out where each teacher's car was originally registered and it pretty well stacked up as well. Teacher from Dumfries had ASH 464 etc.Where I was brought up nearly every car was locally owned with a prefix ending in SN..........Yep you guessed it......I came from Clydebank ! 90% of cars/vans etc were SN plates and most buses were Glasgow registered and the most common prefix was in the '60's was GB as in OGB 122F etc.Our car was a Vauxhall Victor 101 REG. NO. BSN 885C.

I should have added that not only did it come from Scotland, but with an SN plate and the only Ford Dealership in Dumbarton was at Dumbuck.....next to the Dog and Cat Home.....if I was a detective I would work out from the number plate that someone in the Dumbarton, Balloch,Loch Lomond area to the West and possibly the Duntocher, Clydebank area to the East must have been the 1st owner....probably financially "comfortable" !

My car before I transferred my private plate over 4 years ago was an FRU reg....which is Dorset area.....one owner, lady manager of a Hotel on the South coast. I have EVERY receipt for evry piece of work since new. Most came from the one and only owner before me...I do the rest myself......interesting world.

LOL proper detective really arnt you , i know my car was repossed from the 1st lady owner and it sat around for a couple of years before i got my hands on it , so i havent got the full history of the car unfortunatly but i have been able to track back about 80% of its history
