New to the Cougar family!

There is vast array of knowledge saved up for a number of years And if there is something specific just ask.

Welcome aboard Olly, the membership is well worth the money - it opens up everything you need to know about your cougar.
As for the rest of the members on here they are a right motley crew but they have no airs and graces about them, they are some of the nicest people you could wish to meet from all walks of life. Some of them are experts and some are ....... well some shall we say are not, but everyone is treated equal and they will bend over backwards to help each other out no matter how big the job is.
Best way to get to know them is the meets and especially the MFSMs
This is not a club as such its more of a family and the cars are our kids

I couldn't resist anymore, so I went and got myself a years membership.
Thanks guys

Free to roam (y). There's absolutely loads of info open to you now. Enjoy, and just ask when neccesary.

Ohh nooo, first breakage!

Thankfully it's just a gas strut on the tailgate. Not expensive to replace - £30 for two. I think the second one went (I could hear it decompressing) because the other one may have been shot from before I bought the car.

Does anyone know what the A/C is all about? I press the A/C button to turn it off, but it only makes the letters A/C on the little screen flash. I've had a look in the car manual, but it doesn't say to do anything otherwise. Ideally, I'd like to have the blower running, without the use of A/C.

Not much else to report. I sometimes see the tachometer spike sometimes without any gas, which is odd, but it's no biggie. I love her so far, and the looks she gets, and the looks I get when I tell people what the tax is!

Be more cat!

Hmmm...AC light flashing? Generally the AC will automatically come on when switched to windscreen only, you can over-ride this by pressing the AC switch again. If you have it set on Windscreen and face blowers, then you can choose either not to have the air-con or not.

I've personally never seen the AC light flash, although there maybe others on here that have? Have you checked to see if it's fully gassed up or not?

Sorry, 'flash' was the wrong word to use. On the display the "A/C" letters blink twice or thrice and the A/C remains on. I've only had the blower setting on the windscreen so far, is that why I can't turn it off?

Given that it's rare to get a manual with your Coug these days, (and even rarer to read it to this degree...) pretty much everyone's first experience with their car in Autumn is:

"No, I don't want the aircon on - I just want to put heat on the windscreen. Dammit I've pressed the AC button! Why won't the AC switch off?!"

I will cheerfully admit that it took me a fortnight of ownership before I realised what the pattern was. To make things worse, I grew up in the States with Lincolns and Mercurys. Over there, they have a setting on the dial called "Max AC" which is the demister position. I was horribly confused.

Welcome to Cougar craziness :)

Enjoy the car and the forum.

As a bonus, I know where a full original book pack can be bought :)

THIS! Exactly! I'm getting the hang of it though! Managed to do a full sweep of the gears this evening and it was glorious!
