Hi , just got myself a Cougar. 2000 V6 auto 'X' pack . Swapped it for a 198,000 mile Vectra (the most miserable way of getting from a to b I could ever imagine) and she runs sweet. 93,000 on the clock and full service history. Love it to bits, so far only problem is cruise control doesn't work but everything else does. She's averaging 31mpg which I think is fantastic. Blasted down the m180 today to visit a friend and didn't want to turn off at the junction, just wanted to keep driving! She's got a few dents but no rust, might sort them out and 'mint' her up or may just carry on driving her as is. Very happy bunny

Welcome to the club, nice to see when people are happy when they have bought a cougar, quite a lot of car for the money really... Get some pics up if you get chance, we like pics on here.. :)

Welcome to the club and just to let you know cruise won't activate under 30ish (can't remember the exact figure)

Spot on... (y) also worth noting that when you activate the cruise you have to click the + up a few times to set the speed... you will feel the pedal move... :)

Get to know her mate then fill your boots. Be warned though it can become obsessive lol. Any help you need then ask the gang but have a read of all the how to's and stuff first. May save you asking for stuff that's already been asked a few times already. Know what you mean about the wanting to keep going though when you're out driving.

Welcome (y)

If it turns out your cruise is definitely caput - first point of call is to check the cruise module is in place (passenger side in the engine bay just in front of the bulkhead) and the pedal switches are there too. It could have been an unfinished upgrade (I ran for over a year with the cruise wheel but no module or switches)

Hello and welcome aboard. Cruise control? what's that? lol!!! Just shove your foot down on the accelerator and enjoy the smiles per mile!! :)

Thanks for the wonderful welcome, spent all day cleaning and polishing the old girl today. She's come up a treat. Just reading through the service history, she had a service 3000 miles ago, but looking through the history the cruise control hasn't worked for years, it's not a problem I'm not that bothered about it .I might have to find another boot carpet though, the previous owner spilt some milk on it and it flippin stinks! Have washed the carpet 3 times and can't rid of it, smells like there's a decomposing whale in there.

Bunging ground coffee at it is s'posed to work....

Bought mine 3 weeks ago and still trying to get rid of the smell of stale fags. Been febreezed 3 times. But it's true the cougar is very addictive.
