HI FOLKS,I JUST BOUGUT MY FIRST COUGAR ON 2/2/2013 & SO FAR I,M ENJOYING IT,
ITS A 2000 YEAR WITH A 2.5 ENGINE & I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE WORKINGS
OF THE CAR.iT SEEMS TO BE RUNNING GREAT & ITS A JOY TO DRIVE ALTHOUGH NOT SURE
IF ITS MY IMAGINATION OR NOT BUT I FIND IT A BIT STIFF GOING INTO 1st & 2nd GEAR
COULD THIS BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SELECTOR OR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS?
ANYWAY ITS GOOD TO BE AMONG PEOPLE WHO ENJOY
THE COUGAR & MAYBE SOMBODY CAN ANSWER MY QUESTION & LET ME KNOW WHERE
I CAN DOWNLOAD A WORKSHOP MANUAL OR GET HOLD OF AN OWNERS WORKSHOP BOOK.

Welcome Billy
The closest you'll get to a manual are these here pages!
MK2 Mondeo one comes in handy for the engine and some of the running gear and can be picked up on eBay for a few quid.

Hi amd welcome, The gear change seems to be quite normal on the cougar, mine is the same, and as for the manual, your looking at it, the forum is the only real manual for the cougar as Haynes never made one for it..
Also...................................................

Just kidding with you... (y)

Hello and welcome. Mine can be a bit stiff in 1st and 2nd, but when warmed up it seems fine. I'm thinking new gearbox oil may be called for although it's common for the synchro to go on 2nd.
Cheers.

Hello Billy and welcome to the forum.
As Matt has alluded to above, there isn't a decent workshop manual for the Cougar, the nearest would be the Haynes one for a Mk2 Mondeo.
There aren't many things that haven't been covered on the forum sometime or other although much of it is in the subscribers only sections.
Taking out a subscription will open up the whole forum to you and could potentially save you loads of money in the future; unless you get the modding bug in which case it will be just the opposite :):):)

Hello and welcome aboard. Most cougs are stiff going from 1st to 2nd gear until the car has warmed up - once warm they are fine.

Hi, welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.

IS YOUR CAPS LOCK STUCK!........;)

HI FOLKS,I JUST BOUGUT MY FIRST COUGAR ON 2/2/2013 .

Great Scott!! Hold on there future boy!! I hope you managed to top up the DeLorean as you'll need it to come back to the 3/1/2013!! People will spontaneously combust if they see evidence of the future existing!!

Come back to the present and await your impending Cougar purchase on the 2/2/2013 ;)

Hiya Buddy. Welcome aboard. I bought my first Cougar on Christmas eve just gone and it had a few minor problems which I have managed to put right with the help of researching this forum so you are in the right place. I noticed my car was really hard to move down into second gear, when i removed the centre console to do a differnt job I noticed there were only 2 bolts around the gear lever and it looked like there should be 4??? I fitted some new bolts so there is now a bolt in each corner and it changes up and down the gears nice and easy. May be worth a look?

Thanks for the warm welcome people & for the advice, its good to
know there,s help if you just ask.all i have to do now is find my
way round the maze of registering to become a full subscriber &
checking out the forums.
