Don't know if any of you have old school fords on Facebook. There's a post up asking if they think the cougar was a future classic. The replies don't make nice reading. But hey each to there own I'm as happy as a pig in poo with mine.

Tempted to reply, but actually can't be bothered.. not worth the hassle, what is funny is that half the people there talking about old skool fords are far too young to even remember the rusty piles of **** ford turned out in the 70's and 80's... I remember well how bad most of them where, agreed some fords where fantastic and i still love the old Capri's and RS's but for most they where dented rotten rust buckets and only a few survived after thousands of pounds thrown at them .. The cougar may never be a future classic, and i doubt it ever will, but i like it, and for me that's all that matters..(y)

You mean like this

I understand they are for some decent cars with memories attached, I have some i love, My first RS Turbo, and yes i would buy another in a heart beat if i could afford to own and store one again..
But the Fiesta... ? Cortina ? no way near as good looking as a Cougar.. :stop: (y)

The Cortina was totally original never been sprayed it was a customer of ours who brought it out once a year to get it mot'd then it was put back in it's heated garage and polished once a fortnight it was bought as an investment.

It's a nice example, but again kept in dry storage most of it's life.. not many cougars around that have had that done to them, or may be there is, somewhere out there one or 2 tucked away safely in dry storage wit next to no miles on them...??

He bought it cause one the last cortinas ever produced a crusader version. I had a 2.3 ghai which as you rightly said fell to bits around me!.

I still prefer my cougar and as long as it's feasable to keep it on the road i will + where in the world can I get 4x4 power from with a budget of £4.

Got a link to the page? I can only find two 'Old School Ford' pages and neither seem to have any trace of the Cougar

Mark!! I've told you before about posting pics of Mk2 XR2's especially that one!! So wish I'd have had the money to buy that at the time!!!
