Well, at long last i have gotten my Cougar on the road.

It's been MOT'd it's insured and the Sorn has been torn up.

Since it's MOT i've done about 300 miles in her already, and well.... hope you're drinking something nice coz am gonna get this off ma chest.

Have you guys seen this ? i mean, seriously have you driven one of these before ? i have to tell you about this car!

What a machhine.. it's gorgeous!

It's strides, and pulls and struts and everything! It's just a big solid laid back cruising growler, is what the Cougar is. I've already had some little mug in a saxo vr ? vx ? or whatever the errr *sporty* model is......I actually just laughed at him.. not because he's a knob, but because it was 12am and he was wearing his baseball cap.... seriously... please... my cougar is busy looking awesome. I doubt his gran even knew he had her car out that night.

I love the interior, i love the leather seats, i love the comfort, i love the power, the pull, the looks i get in it, it gets alot of attention.. I love how there is no door frame, very cool whilst sitting munching a Micky D's with the door open so you can throw your feet up and stretch back and listen to the radio.

oh, and i love how i can stand there and lean against my Cougar whilst i fill her up at the petrol station and see about ten cars come and go as it takes so long to fill the 2.5 tank.

beautiful machine, and one that is worth keeping good.

I have a question though,

What is the Cougar ? i mean... is it just a big laid back growling cruiser ?

It came from the same line as the Capri & Probe ? so what exactly is it ?

I've also noticed that when next to new cars, it's looks still look fresh and sharp.... very impressive.

Anyhows, that's all i wanted to say thus far, i'm a happy boy, this is quite a car!

ps, and i love how at 70 it still demands to climb! it's just.... o0o0o0oooooo !

...sooooooo Al, apart from all that, is it safe to assume you like your new car?.....
One of the worst risks in owning any cougar, V6 2.5 or Zetec 2.0 is driving through any town centre with lots of mahoosive shop windows, cos every last one of them has one in it, and it's identical to the one your driving, it even has you in the drivers seat, grinning like a cheshire cat :). The risk is, running into the back end of whatever is in front  One of the best thrills of owning a cougar, apart from driving it, is watching passers by, staring, wondering what the hell it is and where it came from. The car still stands head and shoulders over most of whats parked either beside it in a carpark, or at the kerb, people look at the cougar, not at the nice new focus or whatever the latest *****all is (we don't say THAT word in here)
As for where it came from, well, forget the Probe. Although the cougar was originally intended to be the ford MK2 Probe, they thought better of another mazda alliance and threw it over to mercury in USA where all cougars were produced, LHD, then shipped over to Europe via Germany iirc, where they were converted to RHD for the relevent markets. Note the LHD peculiarities, Brake servo linkage to the left hand side, bonnet release on passenger side A frame ( a few of us have converted to the right side), Oh and not forgetting the FORD oval replacing the USA Mercury badges also for Europe.

Just remember mate when your doing 70 you have another 70 on tap ;) bet bad boaye in his Sack'o (insert word here) can't claim that one.
As for filling the tank, you won the lottery mate thats about seventy quid these days

Hello and welcome aboard the massive grin factor mate. As the others have already said, sounds like your well and truly bitten. I know what you mean about looks, as you pass people not only on the road but on the pavement too!! I took mine for a blast today and got plenty of smiles and thumbs up from various people (especially the school kids when I trod on the LOUD pedal!!! lol). Hopefully we may see you at a meet or two next year??

i need to change jobs so i can drive it further, i go to gigs all over in it as often as my wallet allows and i take the missus, we're loving it, it's like being teenagers all over again, now i just need to move back in and i've cracked it hahaha

I nearly had an arse ender the other day... Group of young ladies starring at my cougar (obvs cause I was inside) ... Nearly forgot I was approaching a set of lights on red :D

Hmmmm....that rings bells with me too! I've had a couple of near misses due to the same fact....or was it me being a dirty old man and staring at young ladies on the pavement??? pmsl!!!

Well i have to admit, after my first week of having her on the road, i'm guilty of taking her the long way home lol!

Welcome to the club mate, now all you need to do is get modding and make it stand out even more. That is the one thing I love about the car, it is the same old question everywhere I go........ WHAT IS IT MATE ?
I never get tired of telling people what it is, or making them guess first lol.
Just enjoy it mate.

Cheers mate, i'm not into modding in a big way, but the two main things i'll be looking into for sure is a new body kit, which i thiink the cougar looks minted with, it doesn't look forced but natural, and a custom paint job. But for now, i'm just making minor tweaks and refreshments.

Well the 2 things on your list were the 2 I did first. I had no plan to do all the things I have done to my car but the bug bites you and it will never end. Trust me, I am still modding my car now and always thinking of new things to do to it.
Good luck with it mate.

Just a thought as i head out the door for my shift, does anybody know a good set of lights for the cat ? Some arse has put one blue on in, whilst the other is still yellowish.

I've noticed the cougar has those little pen like side lights from the puma that are next to useless.
