I swapped my ohc warning light console because my original one had a duff led in the door ajar section, thanks Si. Instantly found that the service light wasn't working, so i put my old one back in while at the rolling road session. Yesterday, i took the replacement unit apart to see what was wrong with it, and to my surprise:

oooH Look! some tape! Now why would anybody want to do that?

...so i popped the pcb out to confirm, and yep! the tape was all the way round, covering the led.

...so off comes the tape, and i see no damage at all.

Pop it all back together and it works perfectly ok, now why would anybody go to the trouble of blanking that out?:(o_O

Mines over the brake warning light. A previous owner has cut the sensor off or fitted non-comparable pads.

Maybe so but if the light was already covered they would be none the wiser would they, who goes around checking that every warning light works properly when selling a car, it was whoever the mafia brought it off.
