Passed the MOT.

About time we saw it out and about again!
It gets very very little use these days. I think I have put a grand total of around 1000 miles on it in the last 5 years or so. But it does pass the MOT without issues as well. It is in a dry garage and I never use it in the rain now either. I think that might have helped things. Plus I got under it years ago and treated the underside which has worked for sure. I also got rid of every sponge I could find as these are what kills the car in the end.

still looks great! well done on the pass.
Thank you. It is not to bad, but it is far from perfect these days. You never know, I might one day put it back in the body shop for a complete freshen up. It has help up really well over the last few years, but as I have said before, it rarely gets used as well now. I have no desire to sell it, break it or use it much. It owes me nothing now at all given 15 years of ownership. So we will see what happens in the years to come. I doubt I will ever attend a car show in it ever again as I am well past those days now as well.

Right, I am considering selling my car as a whole car for now. It was only MOT'd 3 months ago and has had 1, 20 mile trip done in it. My car has lived in a garage since 2013 as well, so dry stored for the last 11 years of its life.
A car has become available that I have been after for 20 years. So what are people thoughts about value etc as a whole car ?
I might consider breaking it as I know a fair amount of things on my car are worth some nice money and are very rare.
Just after some peoples thought's at this stage. If I had somewhere to store 2 cars then I would keep the Cougar and this new one as well, but unfortunately that is not a long term option right now.
Cheers in advance.

I've always been honest with you, and I will be right now. I know you love that car and that others have found your vinyl treatment to be marmite. Personally I don't care for it, but I understand what you were going for. Oh well.

But there's a lot of custom stuff on your Cougar that you could sell for good money:

1) Dave Chant's custom UIM is probably worth more than the car alone at this point if you sell it right to someone who owns an ST24/200 show car.

2) The cream leather interior was never an option in the UK, and I think yours is bespoke? What sort of state is it in at this point after you've not rolled the car much over the last few years? Has it been treated and cared for?

3) Is it an ST200 with the corrct airbox and throttle body? Maybe the TB is ST220? Because there's serious cash there.

Basically I would return the car to standard as far as possible, sell it for £750 or so, and try to make back what you can on the custom parts. But that's just my position and I wish you the best of luck.

I respect your opinion fully. Yes I fully understand that my car divided opinion for sure.

I am aware that the UIM is worth a lot of money due to the fact it actually works and it is the only one in the world. Plus it will fit any St24 engine, so the Mondeo boys would also be interested in it.

The Leather is in the same condition that I got it in to be fair. So no issues there at all. The only thing I have done is add an arm rest to the rear but it looks good and suits it nicely as I retrimmed it in the same leather that came with the seats. This can be removed of course.

The Engine is an St200 with the St200 throttle body, not an St220 one. The air filter is a carbon fibre Pipercross Viper one.

There is a lot of carbon fibre bits on my car as well. bonnet, door cards, seat bases, carpet runners, parcel shelf.

So if I am being honest with my self, the value lies in selling this kind of stuff off separately. But my issue is can I be bothered to do all this, or just let it go as is.
I guess we will see what happens in a few weeks.
Thank you as always.

Well, whatever you decide, good luck Peter.

I got access to 2 garages right now. 1 being mine where the Cougar lives. The other one is my parents one. Now they very rarely put their car into it, so it could be an option to put this other car in there. But my issue is this other car will remain in the garage for years and years as I want it as a retirement project. This other car I got my eye on is a car I had in 2000 and had to sell when my twin boys came into the world. Now there are currently only 6 left in the UK. They were rare when new and expensive. The chance has come along to get the very same car, spec, colour as I used to have and I have honestly never seen another one available in 24 years. So I know this car is more than likely the only one left that has survived.
So we will see, in the ideal world I would keep both cars. But if I have to make a choice then the Cougar will have to go in the end.
If I do decide this, I would offer it within the club first before throwing it out to the general masses. If I do not get the money I think it might be worth then it will be broken and all the very rare valuable stuff will be offered up for sale.
Cheers.

And that is absolutely your decision to make. All I will say is that you really shouldn't let her sit in a garage unused. She needs the miles and I - more than many here - know that. Tiger, Wildcat and Florida were all under-used, and with the exception of Florida (who was serviced to a level of insanity) have benefitted by clearing their throats on good fast roads.

Still, that is absolutely your decision, but I really dont think you want a museum piece, do you.

I do start it up and move it every few weeks. it does get a run out in dry weather but I never take it out in the rain or winter these days. I think this is why it has help up so well over the years as well.

Ok so my car will be going up for sale very soon as I got to make a choice and my parents want their garage back. I have put together a detailed list of everything that is on the car which carries value in my opinion. I will post all the details up in the correct section of the forum in due course. I want to sell it as a whole car and I do have a price in mind as well which I feel is very fair given the amount of very rare things in and on the car.
I am going to offer the car to forum members first before posting up on the Facebook Cougar page and then onto the general marketplace.
Cheers.

Peter, please make note of the conditions for ex-members wishing to sell cars or parts on the forum as shown in red at the top of the For Sale section. (y)

It’s your car so your choice, for my tuppence it would be a shame to change her/ split her but it seems Custom Cars never sell for their true value.
Good luck with your sale.

"Only subscribed members with a minimum of one months membership and 10 posts may place an item for sale in the classified section

• In addition to the above. UKCOUGAR.club can now offer temporary access to the classified section for x members and/or previous long term members with a minimum of 100 posts who are known to the forum who are wishing to sell their car or parts after first contacting one of the admin/mod team to grant or deny access where a decision will be made. In all cases, ANY CARS FOR SALE MUST BE ACCOMPANIED WITH EVIDENTIAL PHOTOS ie: to show good/bad points etc"

Ok and point taken Andy, given I have been around since 2009 and I am very well known I would not think or see any issue in me letting people in here have first option on the car.
I am happy to gain approval before doing anything wrong or breaking forum rules.
Cheers.

This is very true and I do agree to what you are saying. Modified cars are not to everyone's taste and I agree that my car is really out there in that department as well.
If I do have to break it to get what I think it is worth then I know given time I would end up with twice as much money but I just don't want the hassle of doing this right now, plus time will be against me as well given I will more than likely have to let my parents have their garage back in the near future.
But we will see what happens.
