Passenger seat - tilt and slide

I've seen a couple of discussions on here about the tilt and slide mechanism in the passenger seat - and the lack of it in some cougars.

Has anyone looked into a possible modification to make it work on one that doesn't.

What I'm on about is when you pull the lever at the top of the seat and fold it forwards to allow access to the rear some cougars slide the seat forward at the same time, some don't.

On my Zetec the cloth seats did it, and the leather seats I put in place did it. On the V6 though the leather seats don't do it.

Not the end of the world but it's a nice feature as my daughter gets in just about every day and the extra room helps.

I still have the cloth seat so could have a look at the mechanism - do you think it would be possible to transplant the mechanism from one seat to another? I don't think the leather passenger seat does anything different to the cloth one does it?

Edit: The similar threads gave me this:

Which suggests it may just be something that has broken/come adrift. Will have a look tomorrow.

Does anyone know if they all are supposed to tilt and slide?

I would imagine it may be as simple as swapping the seat runners from a cloth seat and possibly the cable as well.

V6 leather passenger seats do slide when tilted forward as a rule, maybe an adjustment problem

I also swapped from cloth to leather, and both passenger seats slide fully forward when they are tilted. My gripe with this set up is, when you put the seat back, you have to re-slide it all the way back or is it forward  to lock it again, regardless of where it was set before it was tilted. I think it might be worth a look at the mechanism on the passenger seat i have for sale

i remember this problem with mine,i looked into it and it was a small white plastic clip that had broken,i checked it out on my old cougar and the clip was black-it actually is fixed next to the hinge in the bottom left hand corner looking from the back of the passenger seat.
If i remember right you have to take the top of the seat away from the bottom to release the hinge to fit a new cable and plastic bracket, the cable and the plastic piece all come as one hence the £60 ford price(my dealer could not supply it)
Needless to say mine is still broke

I found the same thing(white plastic triangle) broken on mine but managed to repair it with a cable tie.
I dremmeled a hole through one of the recesses in both bits of the plastic moulding leaving the thicker/stronger outer part of it intact and fiddled a cable tie through both holes and pulled the bits tightly together.
It now works fine.

Thanks for the tips - will have a look tomorrow. Hopefully I can utilise the spare parts on the cloth seat to make something good :)

i never even realised this, well bugger me, i can live with it not sliding, there is a lever at the front of the seat and i can reach it easy, most of the time nobody gets in the back of my car anyway!!!
