Passing an MOT with a decat pipe

Pretty sure the new rules require any cat to be present that the car was made with so I'd except to see cars with headers are no precats failing if the testers are actually doing their jobs properly.Tbh I'd rather the testing was to the right standard. It's better than a prohibition notice at the side of the road should you ever be spot checked.

I think the question was, he don't have precats and if he removed the main cat would it fail a MOT, and the answer would be Yes Pete..

Yes this is correct, but I have a tester who is willing to look the other way when it comes to the cats.
My question is, is it possible to get through the emissions with no cats in place ? ( the readings )

Very unlikely it would get through emission mate, readings wise... , and as Jamie said, your tester must not like a future in his job, if the VOSA found out they would strip his and the place of works right to MOT for life..

He may well be but I spoke to him because I said I would just swap it back in for the MOT and he said don't bother. He runs a 2.2 Honda Accord without any cats at all, sounds great and goes like stink.
I think I might just do what I said to him about it, just put it back in for MOT time. That way it will pass no problem.
