Poor Kitty

The boot operates normally, not convinced the lines are the same.

For what it's worth it was a damn hard hit. I ache all over....

If that keeps up for more than a couple of days get yourself to a doctor, fella. Not for compo, but because if you've done yourself a mischief it's far better to catch it early.

In the meantime take it easy and good luck with the car.

Very much seconded! After being T boned in my Capri some years back, i just went home thinking i was ok. It wasn't till a couple of days later i was out on the town with my mate, and he strongly recomended i should see the GP after i complained with a a very slight ache in my shoulder. Turned out to be whiplash, the genuine artical and beleive me when i say, whiplash is so much more than a stiff neck.

I agree. Got rear-ended about 12 years ago and my car took no real damage at all, though the idiot who hit me destroyed the front end of his Escort. Got my car inspected next day and there were no problems, so I stupidly threw the guy's details away, ignored the jarring, and got on with my life.

A couple of days later my lower back spasmed and I had a few days off work. And then again a few weeks later. I've had trouble with it on-and-off ever since and some serious physio, though to be fair it doesn't really stop me because I won't let it. Though I pay the price in the end.

Point is, don't write off any injury in haste. Keep a journal of it if necessary and don't risk anything. Look after yourself mate.

Whoa bad luck chap. Hope your injury is OK.
As for the coug, looks like it could be done OK. I'm no expert, but the Thatcham repair manual gives all the reference measurements across the chassis.
I think it's on here somewhere, otherwise PM me and I can e-mail it to you.

Well she is a Cat C write off. No real surprise. Had a first offer which was surprisingly good and will be turned down shortly.

Plans are beginning to form.

Can I ask what they offered? Did you take the goodies off? I take it the other person has admitted liability?

I have to agree here if you haven't already been to the hospital or doctors do so, i got shunted back in 1998 and didn't go to the hospital and ended up having a disc removed from my neck some 2-1/2 years later because it had prolapsed,

Sorry to hear about your car lucid, this is something i'm always aware of, as the Cougar is worth so little these days a soon as its in an accident it gets written off because it's uneconomic to have repaired, but if you have pictures of before the accident you may be able to get athe insurance company to do something good luck

If your cars chassis is ok mate and your gonna fix her up I'll donate the rear bumper and plastic block under the bumper if your close enough and your willing to donate some pennies to russ's charity that kully started a thread on

Dave; thank you for your offer, it is much appreciated. Unfortunately the chassis has twisted somewhat at the rear....and whilst it may well be repairable given the plans I have always had for my Cougar I would not feel safe knowing that inherent weakness was there.
I am therefore in negotiations to buy "another Cougar". :)
In reflection of your kind offer though I will be making a donation.

As for my back; I am now on an intensive physio course, sure does hurt!

I sympathise. The fact that it's taken a smack and you don't know how it will behave if it happens again will always be with you.

For the record, I owned a non-Cougar CatC for a year. It wouldn't track right, (you don't want to hear a mechanic say, "Hey Mark - come here and have a look at this!"), wore tyres in weird ways until I dialed out the front strut-brace for what should've been negative camber, and made funny noises under load. Never trusted it and was relieved when its ECU died.

That's not to say that yours isn't completely safe and can't be fixed though.

I know your pain...
I just replaced mine on Friday after becoming a victim to crap Belgian driving and some slushy snow ten days ago, resulting in a sudden and intimate acquaintance with the concrete central barrier on the E40 near Gentbrugge...
Given that both airbags deployed and the cover from the passenger-side smashed the windscreen, it's effectively a write-off before we even begin to look under the front for anything else. The aircon condenser is smashed flat against the engine/gearbox and there's probably some chassis-twisting as evidenced by the horrendous squealy-creaking noise when I opened the passenger door.

The only plus-side is that the replacement has 72k on the clock whereas mine was pushing 122k...
