Fantastic job Steve. How does the technique work?
Choose somewhere with no ambient light...or somewhere with an interesting background that is lit.
Tripod because you'll be doing a very long exposure.
Camera in bulb mode if it has it
Remote shutter release to lock the shutter open, and avoid bumping the camera.
Torch.
Switch off the car's interior light.
Select very small aperture...think I used f22
Set ISO to 200 or you'll get ridiculous amounts of noise.
Put torch on subject and use it to focus the camera.
Setting your framing takes a bit of trial and error because you can't see anything!
Ready - ok
Lock shutter open
Being careful not to 'show' the camera the sharp end of the torch....light up all areas of the subject you want the camera to pick up.....basically you paint light all over the bits of the car you want in your final image....it will take trial and error and a bit of chimping until you're happy.
Last thing to do before closing the shutter is to briefly switch on the sidelights to illuminate the headlamps...now you know why you turn off the interior light
When done....wash through Photoshop until happy...I removed some noise and tweaked the levels a little...the final image is a composite of two to eliminate all window reflections.
